theprotester
A bloke with a spankers new S model came here a couple of weeks ago; Fucking nice. All I got was a drive from one side of my carpark to the other, but it was worth it! When it drove in I almost thought it was an Italia. Silba
So my car came back from the shop yesterday looking beautiful. Then I went to put the lowering springs on, and I can honestly say....... WHat the fuck did I do, the car is lower, but it still has hellagap. I need full coilovers. Thats next on the list. Also, bigger wheels. 18x9 Might be a little too small. Thinking about going 19x10, or 20x10
theprotester
Just go a nice strut/spring combination, unless you're tracking it I can't really see the appeal of coils. Been down that road a few times now, and I'm really happy with my bilstein strut/spring set up at the moment. You need a sticker delete program, pronto! Silba
Im just trying to get it as low as possible. Also, that front winshield is gone, its cracked badly, so I have to get a new one, so those stickies will be gone. Damn insurance company wouldnt cover it. theprotester
Coils doesn't automatically mean it will be lower though. You can achieve the same ride height with struts and springs, without feeling like you're driving a forklift. Are you running different rims on purpose? It looks like your rolling diameter is out a bit.

Nah, I only have 3 wheels, one is currently not on tire due to a bubble forming in the sidewall(low air pressure+hellastretch=pop) http://www.raceinspired.com/p-6066-tokico-hp-series-gas-strut-lexus-es300-1997-2001-front-left.aspx So you think this will get me the drop I need? Tokico gas strut
theprotester
I'm more of a fan of oil pressured struts, but that's possibly personal preference. Either way, it will depend on your springs as to the final height. How much travel is there to the bump stop? You could probably get away with just springs unless you're really into boy racer driving? http://www.raceinspired.com/p-27674-bg-suspension-s2-lowering-springs-lexus-es-300-1992-1996.aspx
Silba
I have Tanabe DF210s on right now, those wouldnt get me nearly as low as I am now. I think IM going to have to bite the bullet and get the full coils from K Sport, I can get around -3 all around with those.
theprotester
Fair enough, I just think they end up being a pain in the arse unless you go for a really soft rate, and if you go soft, you'll scrub. Just took this, a strut spring combo really can get you their, those are only 18's as well. If you want to tuck the guard, I'd suggest waiting for the bigger rims first, otherwise you'll just be going through it all over again. Eyar
i have tokico blues on my civic, they can be bouncy on some roads but nothing too bad, tokicos will handle a 2 inch drop, might want to search other struts if you're thinking about going lower. Silba
So I put my wheels back on in the back, and I now need spacers. The bottom part of the strut that holds the spring, is banging on the wheels. But it makes a huge difference, the car looks well rounded.
