Cant stand my iPhone 7, mostly due to all the issues and slowness of the OS, but also cant bring myself to spend money I don't really have on 8. Everyone I know with a X just complains about it.

Steve Jobs RIP. Hasnt been the same since.

No. I don't, but my phone does work with Tmobile sim cards in the states. However, it does not work with Verizon, or Sprint.

It has a heart rate sensor too.

Samsung's website says they just use an LED emitter & detector to measure slight changes in skin movement during heartbeats, so if they use 700-800nm IR for that they can probably pull a halfway accurate pulse ox reading based on how much light is absorbed vs. what was put out.   It wouldn't be as accurate because you'd need a sensor on the other side of the finger or whatever for that part, but you get some kind of baseline reading.

The iris scanner / face recognition in those is kind of funny.  This thread on Samsung's site is hilarious and says something about how much crap is being tied into the limited near IR spectrum:

I have a ceiling fan & light with remote control in my bedroom.

If I leave my S8 face up in the room after a couple of minutes it will transmit something and put the fan in max speed and the light on.

I have the same problem with my S8 and Klipsch R-20B Soundbar.  My S8 will cause the soundbar to power on and increase volume to 100%.  Its ridiculous.  No one with an S8 or similar phone, like my girlfriends Pixel 2 XL can walk into my living room with thier phone without activating the Soundbar, which also instantly and automatically blasts the volume.  I have to return the soundbar and sub.

Gonna upgrade next week from an iPhone 7s. I'm looking at an S9 or an iPhone X but I don't know what to choose. Any tips or any user information I should know about both?

if you go with the s9, i'd get the s9+ instead....but wait a bit because the price should be dropping any week now.

samsung is also taking pre-orders for the samsung note 9 ...they did an unpacking event 3 days ago in brooklyn....it semms like its going to be a pretty dope phone, but the 128GB is gonna cost $1,000 and the 512GB is going to be about $1,200....thats pretty steep as far as im concerned.

Thanks man. What would be the original price as opposed to the new price? I'm really considering the s9/s9+ since a couple of my friends have been really recommending them.

They still haven't dropped the prices but here's what i got from today (8/17/18)...

s9 unlocked:

$720 for 64GB

$770 for 128GB

$840 for 256 GB

s9+ unlocked:

$840 for 64GB

$890 for 128GB

$960 for 266GB

i have no idea what the price drop on these are going to be, but im hoping that they drop by like 15% soon...if i dont see a good price drop i might just wait till black friday....if i dont see anything good by then, I might just get the note 9 if that drops too.

Geez. Think I'm good with 64GB on the S9+. Either way, I'm gonna upgrade at the end of the month if the prices drop. If not, I'll ask the associates at the store if they know of any price drops. Anyway, thanks Cali.

It looks like the memory upgrade cost between 64 & 128 is a ~$30 ripoff, and the one between 128 & 256 is a $10 savings...  so $20 over on the parts cost,  subtract Chinese factory labor and it's $19.75 profit across memory options assuming consumer prices, likely more for them but the scaling is close.    😄 😄

What can I say? I take good care of my shit and don't upgrade until I really need to.

Been on the grind working as much as possible.

Waited for the $200 Black Friday price drop and copped this for $800:

Got it a couple of days ago and couldn't be happier.

Yeah, the price point was a bit steep but I figured I might as well treat myself.
