Clinton health plan may mean tapping pay

WASHINGTON - Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton said Sunday she might be willing to garnish the wages of workers who refuse to buy health insurance to achieve coverage for all Americans.

The New York senator has criticized presidential rival Barack Obama for pushing a health plan that would not require universal coverage. Clinton has not always specified the enforcement measures she would embrace, but when pressed on ABC's "This Week," she said: "I think there are a number of mechanisms" that are possible, including "going after people's wages, automatic enrollment."

This a ridiculous criticism. It's no different than income tax and Medicare taxes. Clinton is just being realistic, Obama isn't. This is not new either, it is the way it is done in most countries with Universal Healthcare.

The way the UK, Europe and Canada do health care is not what Hilliary is wanting to do. Hilliary wants to MAKE you PAY for health care and require you to have coverage. In the Uk/Euro system the government pays the Doctors and all citizens, tourists and illegal aliens see a doctor for free.

but I have to pay for my heath care too and it is compulsary I cant opt out of paying my part of the tax that goes to the NHS. So is she proposing that you still pay when you see a doctor, or that a deduction will be made from your earnings no matter what treatments you have?

I can't read the article as i get an error when I open it so sorry if my asking obvious questions

Most, if not all, countries that have "universal healthcare" are socialist/communist minded.

The melding of capitalism with socialism is the history of political systems in the West for the past 65 years and it keeps charging on inevitably.

And for this edit, I should say that Western countries are inherently capitalist and only socialist out of pragmatism. Maybe we need a new name.

It is not a tax, the money goes to private insurance company it is a premium that comes out of a pay check bi-weekly. The U.S. government will garnish wages of U.S citizens who do not want to participate and pay for health care, AND we will have to pay for Doctor visits, Prescription drugs and anything the insurance will not cover.

I agree. That's why I said melding.
