it's partially why I am very happy with my XCR platform. Half an AK and have AR, works well and I have never had a jam.

Google translate of this: http://www.military-informant.com/index.php/army/3455-1.html, very little concrete info in it. Here are the highlights

"For the very first time, the new special purpose assault rifle AS-1, was publicly shown. The Kalashnikov Corp demonstrated these weapons, which were initially developed at the request of the FSB for special operations, to the professional community at the “Innovation Day” expo – AS-1 in 5.45x39 mm and AS-2 in 7.62x39 mm.

Later on, the AS assault rifle may be included as an armament competent of the indigenously developed Ratnik “future soldier” system.

The main characteristic of the new assault rifle is the so-called “bull-pup” configuration. According to an announcement by a representative of Kalashnikov Corp, in addition to the more traditional rifle configurations, the company will develop and mass-produce such “bull-pup” designs, where the hammer part of the fire control group and magazine are located behind the trigger."

The article goes on to describe the history and benefits of the bull-pup weapons, focusing on the Steyr AUG.

It ends with: "Unfortunately, at the moment, we lack any details on the design and specific functionality of the AS-1 and AS-2 assault rifles, but hope that more information will be disclosed and available soon."

bullpups seem like they would be hard for a soldier to reload with any kind of gear on their chest or a flak jacket

looks like theyd have to raise the muzzle in the air, taking it off their target

i really want to shoot one. that green one looks fun

i wonder if that is the mag release above the trigger?

(Reuters) - New sales of semi-automatic rifles with removable magazines would be banned in California under a bill passed by the Democratic-led state legislature on Tuesday,

and those who already own such weapons would have to register them.

The measure, which passed the state Assembly 44-31 and now goes to Governor Jerry Brown for his signature,

is one of a package of gun control bills passed earlier this year by the state senate in the wake of the massacre last year at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

Letter Below

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Governor Jerry Brown,

My name is ---name here------, from -----city here-----, California.

These new bills proposed, specifically SB374, they are simply unconstitutional. When these bills come your way please make the logical decision and not an emotional one based off of tragedy that has struck our nation. The government can be rash, maybe because they feel that it is in the best interest of the people, but the country is made up of a democracy of we the people. You are to uphold the constitutional rights which our founding fathers created in ways to protect, we the people, from the governing bodies that may oppress us. We have every right to defend ourselves from not just one attacker, but plausible multiple attackers. We have the right to defend ourselves in cases such riots, which we have seen too many times in our state. Banning all semi-automatic rifles is nonsense.

Limiting this ability by targeting semi-automatic firearms is not the answer. According to official FBI and U.S. Department of Justice reports, the rates of violent crime in the U.S. are now at their lowest level in 40 years. And the fact that there are more guns in law-abiding citizens hands today than before doesn't come into play? Politicians don’t face the injustice and evil of the world we the people live in. Politicians have luxuries that we the people will never see.

There are bad people in this world. I don’t postulate that I am the best of people but I am a tax paying, God fearing, law-abiding citizen of the United States and a resident in our great state of California. Crime does not go away with these gun laws. Statistics prove this. You can’t ignore that. These gun laws take away the protection of those who are not criminals and turn them into criminals.

Please consider the voice of many individuals who love the United States of America and the freedoms it brings. I pray for our state, you and your ability to make clear logical decisions and hope that my voice will be heard in the sea of chaos you handle. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

______________

________, California

Gonna try to grab another lower today I think.... If they aren't all gone again.
