Kids created a thread to get props...so whatever. The VIP supports the site, so that needs to stay. I just hop on in between sleeping and going out to shoot the shit or look at some flicks. In the past 5 years not much has changed besides some of the people who post. Also, the antique laptop I use can't do much more than look at the web and chat. I spend time here because I know people here. I like everyone here (for the most part), but I want to see 12 oz. thrive, not just survive. And, I wouldn't invite anyone who has been banned back. Frankly, we're getting bored with 12 oz. When we first came here, it felt like it was a community, and now it seems more like a country club. If you aren't a member, you get treated like rabble and made fun of. if you are a member, you get judged by your status in the community based on an arbitrary system that doesn't really mean a hell of a lot now that there's a way to cheat at it. It used to be that people were respected mostly for what they said and how they said it, but now it's all about how many props you have and how hard you can clown on people. wait, people are taking props seriously? holy crap you're a bunch of sad losers. You don't notice the difference between Channel 0 three, four years ago and now? This isn't a knock on the new members, but Channel 0 was a lot different back then. And, why is it when I say that I care about what happens here, certain people get defensive and start saying that if I care, I have no life? I can be honest about what Channel 0 means to me. I made some friends here, and I want to keep making new friends here. Frankly, I'm surprised and a little disappointed, but I won't let that ruin my day. I think that's the good compromise: public and "real" control by the mods. I first came on 12oz to go to Brickslayers and other pics threads but it became so boring and depressive (Like the NY thread were they are barely only posting 70's and 80's pics) . It's good to have some older members like Shai to "moderate" the forums by his wise participation. Ch.0 was my best experience on the Net after the Porn torrents sharing sites. Pistol Posted January 5, 2008 Share Posted January 5, 2008 i kinda like it better now. i can go without reading posts and finding 50 'you fail' graphics in each thread but whatever. to me my favorite 'era' of 12oz was 02-03. you had some real characters posting good shit. some nightowls, fagbats, nips battles. people were making an effort to bring heat to 12oz and get some e-props. now people just want to do a google search and post stupid pictures. or they swoon over the few ladies on here. then again 12oz was probably a 1/4 of it's size now. for about 2 years i hardly came on let alone posted. it's actually better now, i see less kids signing up just talk shit on behalf of some other graffiti forum. as far as harassing new jacks, this is the fuckin' internet. it's made for porn, gambling, and talking shit, everything else is just a by product. i remember when seeking was seeking innocence and would unlease his wit and shit talking ability on everyone. It's people who are pals online constantly hitting a button to give someone e-status, which though some of the folks who have a lot of props say they don't care about, you'll see a post here an dthere of them saying to actually give them "props" for something. As far as the board going stale, I disagree and agree. I think closing the board id a good idea for safety, but I would say it's a fact that new people get ragged out by much "cooler" members who for some reason believe they are an integral component to the board, when it really just shows them to be some person who sits around all day replying to threads with useless information and posts just to get a post count up (but thats been happening for a long time and that happens with many boards. There are always those types of people out there who respond to boards). I don't think the croad here is that great either that it only needs to be closed to these select people that are members now. I agree with the mods comment made by Shai Hulud as well, I mean cmon, how many personal messages as threads can be posted? It's funny that some of those dudes bash people for lame posts but are quite guilty of this themselves. That said, there is a need for them, absolutely, but some of their abuse goes unchecked and in any good democracy, theres always someone to keep the power in check as well.
