Pulling some weeds from some undergrowth & heard a weird vibrating noise, realized I heard a snake make that noise a week or so ago.  Drawing back I saw I was shoving my hand and arm in this unhappy snake's face.  Guessing I was lucky it was shedding its skin or else I may have been bit.  Went back later to get the skin and see how big this snake was.  Similar shit happened a while later with a slightly smaller snake that had just shed its skin, kind of creepy.

6:40 after grabbing a coffee etc. reached Coonalpyn - this place put itself on the map thanks to this mural on the silos and I think they are kind of nice though I'd rather seen quality burners.

local rodeo. Fun to check out since it’s actually a national circuit competition rodeo and not the usual showcase type. Usually one of the things we do when people come visit since it’s a local thing.

Been starting to harvest heirloom beets from my garden. Did a super shitty job this year. Way too busy with work to tend to the garden properly. Then a big hail storm wrecked my beet greens which never came back too well. Lastly, our frost free faucet broke last winter and still haven’t had time to call the guys that installed it back to fix it. We had decent rain but not enough to water things properly. Beets themselves seemed to do ok.  Strawberries did great as did the raspberries. Ate a fair bit of kale and arugula but wasted a lot as well unfortunately. Wasted as in fed them to the chickens cause we didn’t eat them in time (most salad greens get bitter if you don’t eat them young).

Looked like a cool setup. Never seen a pickup give a piggy back like that. Seems like a trailer would be easier, but dude can roll around and park in most places by hauling it like that.

@SchnitzelHow was the doco? I was keen as to catch it but had clashes both screenings.  Also, mad pics, I haven't driven Adelaide and back in at least 10 years.

The doco was pretty good  but I had some slight issues with her grumbling about people asking her to sign subway art ( especially since like 200 other people in the audience I had a copy in my bag)

I can understand it's draiining  and she never actually made that much off subway art due to it being constantly stolen but damn it's the seed that got her around the world on other people's dime for time.

But some of the footage was intense and I never realised how much cool stuff she's photo'd over the years.

The roadtrip was great barring terrible weather on way over from Stawell into melbourne. going to do it with a mate later in the year to take a bit longer and explore some more spots.

^^^^* Ran out of time while adding text.

Sadly, I’m terrible at cataloging my life, I usually live in the moment and never take pictures, even though technology has made it a million times easier.

However, my wife & kids were in Detroit a few weeks ago, so I snuck up to Flagstaff for the night (wifey hates to leave our old dog alone for a night.)

Some pics didn’t load, but this is a new hotel. Most hotels in Flagstaff are a dump.

Got there late.

I locked myself in my garage as I was leaving.

10 minutes earlier I would’ve been fucked. I was loading car trunk just out of shower, I would have been in my underwear, no phone, no keys.

Thankfully it happened right after I grabbed my phone & car key. I had to track down my sister across town to get her spare.

I drove through a hail hail storm at 104 degrees near Sedona, panicking that my paint was going to get fucked up. Oh, and the hills a couple miles outside of downtown were on fire. It seemed karma was telling me to stay home.

Grabbed a nice bench for lunch the next day.

Flagstaff is a small college town in the Rockies. Lots of hippies, transients, train hoppers, travelers and junkies. Fun bars. I usually stay at a hostel to meet people.

Oontz!

Shits out of order now...

but the reason I went up north was to disc golf in the woods. They’ve got three awesome courses in town, and one on the ski resort mountain in the Summer.

I was in no hurry to get home. I took the backroads through the mountains & twisties. Traffic was light so I got to open up on 89a.

Turkeys are cool both alive, roasted and smoked.

are these ones wild?

there are lots of scrub turkeys in eastern austrlia but they are a bit smaller than these.

Interesting, never considered there might be turkeys outside N America.  Legend has it they received consideration along with the bald eagle as a choice to symbolize America.

Anyhow, yes wild.  The toms are a bit bigger than the hens.
