Lugr I think your change is a silver note

(I think thats what they are called).

What year was it?

 

You're right. It's a silver certificate from 1935 issued by the Treasury...pre fed reserve monies. I'm not sure if it's worth 1$ though? History of money is interesting.

so is it actually rare or something?

Rare enough that I have never seen one or gotten one as change before. Hard to believe it has been in circulation since 1935 and it's not ripped to shreds.

 

I actually thought it would have no monetary value.
