Ko SprueOne
Walked the back alley to the post office this morning. Saw nothing unusual or interesting except this open hatch. Upon closer inspection, it was full of water from the last rain 3 weeks ago. And behind the supermarket, the overhead carcass conveyor to unload meat from trucks. Hasn't been used in a long time.
Hua Guofang
@Schnitzelthat wall paper is fucking dope. My grandparents had some of the coolest 1960s wallpaper there ever way. morton
Got restless and left the house with no destination, drove to the airport and rolled the departures lane just to see, most of the doors closed and only one person being dropped off. Decided to see what sort of perimeter road walk I could do. I have really been putting my finger into it a lot lately, need to develop some finger discipline. Quiet day, there is a parking lot somewhere around here where the airplane fans go to drink milkshakes and bench, they would be falling asleep today as I did not see a single plane landing or taking off in the time it took me to walk like seven miles. Elsewhere on the CH0 there is speculation about the start of Skynet, a building like this seems like a likely culprit. My perimeter road idea gets blocked by the perimeter fence, they let the plat back right up to the fence here instead of running a public road all around. I am getting a little fed up with real-estate companies not putting their listings up online, tax value is 119K, small house on big corner lot. https://myplace.cuyahogacounty.us/MzQxMDQwMjA=?city=Nzk=&searchBy=UGFyY2Vs&searchData=MzQxMDQwMjAgfCBSQVNNVVNTRU4sIFJVU1NFTEwgfCAyMjk0NSBDRURBUiBQT0lOVCBSRCAgfCBCUk9PSyBQQVJLIHwgNDQxNDI=&dataRequested= I bet the kids in this neighborhood have some good science fair entries cause you know some of these rocket nerds are the walk to work types. I can not really put my finger on it but something about the plat here reminds me of the Seattle suburbs more that other spots I have walked out here. Putting my finger in it, here is the Rocky River Reservation which is an impressive part of an overall really impressive park system. Fallen soldier. Ohio These municipal signs often look like they were reverse stenciled, with the letters blocked out with tape and the background color painted over. The cars the the right are parked in rows, bumper to bumper. 5

morton
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vermilion,_Ohio Walked around the west side of town a little, first real "lake house" feeling neighborhood on the lake I have visited here, did not take any pictures that really capture the vibe I am talking about but it is there. This development took a fair amount of my attention, you can motor boat from your backyard out to Lake Erie. The nautical trifecta. Can of what? Pretty wide open back yards, I bet the sound travels really well sometimes. 550K https://www.remax.com/oh/vermilion/home-details/5163-park-dr-vermilion-oh-44089/5306556692132211346/M00000830/4167375 More of the same This plat is private, normally it looks like you can walk in by paying a fee for beach access but the Covid has em to owners and guests only so no tour for me. The fishermen are out, do not think they are really getting much though. Dig the sign. Boats on the street here are considerably nicer than the Clark-Fulton No concrete being sold today, tiny little plant is probably on pretty tight margins as it is. I bet a lot of people do not know that now a days lots of the concrete trucks are 1099 suckers just like the Uber drivers. A couple years back one took out a family of four on the shoreway and did not have insurance, the cement company was not found liable. Not sure what the status of these trucks is, they are not Teamsters like is usually the case back home though. Of course at the end of my walk I find out it is a destination for rail fans. They have a map of places to bench, maybe next time. I took one on the way out, not exactly on par with the rail fan types.
morton
Akron visit 2, high to mid range residential addition. I am not sure what the deal here is, my basic understanding is that lots of Akron was developed out when the rubber industry was hubbed up here. I have heard that plats were developed out with different sectors of the industry in mind, if that is the case then was once maybe the executive or management sector. I need to step up my research game. This little monument has not aged well in my estimation. Context. I can dig it. When I worked in gardening I used to do work for this tripper that hustled his clients hard with the spiritual angle talking about spacing and feng shui, one of his approaches was to talk about what made a home welcoming or an area peaceful. He believed his hype for the most part and did really great work. Transitioning a little here and there. Dig this doorway, reminds me of the comic book explosion illustration copied by many a writer in the force field. I did not flick the house but looking at it I could feel the owners vibe, like some of the old ladies I used to work for I knew that this was a yard with almost a straight forty hours or work required at the peak of the season. As I walked down the hill I heard some smooth jazz coming from a bluetooth speaker on the gardeners belt, looking over I saw a middle aged man with long gray hair tied back by a bandanna worn headband style, it was like looking into a parallel trajectory of my own life. I thought about chatting him up but that would have ruined it I think. Old folks home with signs outside asking passer bys to pray for them. Green. Better than the ceramic jesus is the wooden friar with a frog buddy. I think this is a wood carving rather than the more common ceramic or concrete variety. Their front room was looking pretty groovy but I did not want to be taking the creep shot. Cemetaries are usually good places to piss except when people are busy using them as off leash dog parks and looking a little nervous neighbor at ya. Spotted. Gotta love a three dimension sign. I bet the bar regulars of the world are feeling lonely, wonder if they are drinking more or less. No neighbors here . I bet it is nice when you get a customer that lets you riff a little. Rules are rules. A cool million. https://research.catylist.com/api/images/data/og/media/user_uploads/5d8a0c05de308900015ee2ba_670 W. morton
Youngstown, Most Hated. Everybody has told me not to bother with a visit, especially the locals. I did a little planning before I went but not enough, I did make a little map with the google machine and sent it to myself, only to delete it in error on arrival leaving me to pretty much wander which is sometimes but not always the best way to tackle a town, First impressions are not bad People out mowing the lawn and cruising around. "Winston tastes good like a cigarette should" A little rough around the edges but not too bad. Flag I rolled a state route here from Cleveland to catch a look at the countryside, such as it is. Not a single Trump sign spotted, I think people may actually be taking them down. I did find this yard sign interesting, no party on it just support for the man himself. Wick was on the list to see but I think I caught it either too far one way or the other, but most likely was off by decades. Mascot Of Youngstown State University Made me think of Daim, but reviewing some images online I do not think the comparison rings true. Who needs a sword when you have a serpent There is not a single reservation in Ohio. Arms down A "must see" according to the list I used to plan my route, not much to me. Scoping Looking okay An idea of scale. Another realtor not listing online, tax value 100K https://gisapp.mahoningcountyoh.gov/mahgis/ No shit 150'x59' historic building, downtown in a city with nominally nationwide name recognition assessed at a hundred thousand dollars. Alley Shuttered, taxi company, pawn shop. I am convinced there is more to this town but am starting to understand the reticence of the locals. There were 170 thousand people living in Youngstown when this bridge was built, today there are 64 thousand. Cool spot, old station, some out of place elements that I think were added on and should be taken down like that sign. Who could resist a trackside bar? I don't even drink but am bummed for all these closed bars. Spotted. lol, two bucks a day Deserted greyhound station with jail in background, the obese woman waiting for the bus out of frame to the right would push the depressive factor a little higher. Off topic, I have been listening to Cleveland's own Bobby Womack while I put this post together, highly recommend. Bail Bonding Next time I come I think I will try to walk out an industrial area. Bummed that all these places are closed, I would like to see what they put together for exhibits. Jail seems quite ample for city of this size. Crown Vics still in service Blown out CVS Next door to the symphony hall, wonder if they are any good. Pealing paint. Headed back to the truck, the landscape is clean, a nice change from some other similar streets I have walked. On the way out I pulled over to take a call, that's it for this visit. I think I may return but will need to do some more research to get my head around where to go.
