Theo Huxtable.
shouldn't it put the songs back on the computer/itunes playlist automatically (transferring from the ipod)?
IOU
If he restores that shit it should just be fine, but if its been completely wiped then he's screwed. No idea what IOU is saying oner.
Hoblow
Download a program called ipod rip. It will copy everything from your ipod to your computer. http://www.thelittleappfactory.com/application.php?app=iPodRip In terms of NOT losing everything on your ipod when you connect to the computer, just change the set5tings so it doesn't auto sync when you plug it in. Guest shai_hulud
shouldn't it put the songs back on the computer/itunes playlist automatically (transferring from the ipod)? You would think that, but sometimes it's a little more complicated than that. iPods have this weird tagging system within the firmware that only seems to work with iTunes or a Linux player called Amarok. I hate the port of iTunes for Windows, it's absolute garbage and it wreaks havoc on PCs. If you transfer the files from the iPod to a PC, sometimes the id3 tags don't quite make it in the process, so you'll end up with all your songs but no titles...just two four digit strings in hex. This was the problem I ran into with my friend's iPod. If rocinhajj has a Mac, then all of his problems are solved. Somehow, I don't think this is the case. Guest shai_hulud
Have you gone to the Apple site? I really doubt you're going to lose all off your music unless you intentionally erase it. And, I've only been working with computers for three years. Granted, that's mainly what I do. Don't sell yourself short, everyone has to start somewhere. Hoblow
When I plug my ipod into my mac, it asks me if I want to auto update the library with the ipod. Do you get the same message?
rocinhajj
Yes I understand in the favela we only received computers 4 years ago here so for me many things are new. I do not want to do something stupid so tomorow I am going to the Apple Store to see if it is able to get in back in my computer all the music. Hoblow
Dude, this is a pretty simple process. Sometimes. There's a few steps involved though and I'm not at my computer so I can't run through it. I'll try PM you later on if no one else fixes the problem for you in the meantime. Guest shai_hulud
Parklife, can you explain how to autosync to him? I have a Mac, but I didn't install iTunes on it on purpose. Mostly because I don't have a iPod.
Hoblow
I know how to turn it off, but not off the top of my head. Bottom line dude, this has happened to me on both a PC and a Mac and both times I haven't lost any music. Nothing to stress about.
