Kimbo = ass beating

sorry dude...I know he is from the 305, but he is more of a street fighter..not a rules and regulations fighter.

Naw I've been watching the training videos of him with Bas Rutten, Shawn Tompkins, and Randy Kathami, and he is look pretty solid. I read some articles and interviews with Bas Rutten and he said he is super dedicated and is doing training regiments that normal mma fighters complain about, and Kimbo isn't even making a stink about it. He even said he is one of the best fighters he has ever trained. So my vote is most likely going with Kimbo Slice son.

(March 30th, New York City ) “Merciless” Ray Mercer, a former WBO heavyweight boxing champ and gold medalist in the 1988 Olympics, will take on bare-knuckle boxing and Internet legend Kimbo Slice in a three-round exhibition bout utilizing professional MMA rules at the Ca ge Fury Fighting Championship 5 show, said matchmaker Gary Marino today. Dubbed “Brawl at the Hall”, CFFC 5 will take place on June 16th at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey .

“I’m very, very excited,” said Marino. “I’ve been working on trying to get Kimbo a fight for the last year. He’s a great draw, and he’s got a huge following for his fights.” Marino added: “Ray Mercer was at the Ca ge Fury Fighting Championship 3 show and speculated that he’d like to try [MMA], and he called me a couple weeks ago asking me to get him a fight. It’s perfect for both guys, for their style and who they are. Kimbo’s a big banger and so is Mercer.”

Known for their heavy-hands and raw power, this will be the first time either man has fought under full MMA rules – though Slice purportedly has been training in the sport for some time now at Miami ’s Freestyle Fighting Academy . However, the former boxing champ, who lost his WBO belt to Wladimir Klitschko in 2002 before stepping into the ring for Japan’s K-1 promotion in 2004 and 2005, will likely enter the cage ready to defend the takedown should the need arise. Said Marino: “Ray Mercer told me he has a bit of a wrestling background, and he’s aware Kimbo has been training down in Florida . He’s been talking about MMA for a while now… so he’ll be prepared.”

With this bout, Mercer will become the highest-profile boxer to have taken the MMA plunge. “It’s very, very intriguing. I think it’s a fantastic fight,” said Marino. “Ray Mercer is definitely going to be the hardest hitter Kimbo has ever faced… I think if they both stand in front of each other, someone is definitely going to get knocked out.”

"OK guys, I have to say something here.

I am training Kimbo right now, and I have to say that he is one of the BEST fighters I have EVER trained. He really listens to you and does what you say, do you know how hard that it? If he's dead tired, and I tell him five more rounds, he looks at me, but doesn't say anything, he just does it.

I entroduced him to the Bas Rutten MMA workout, he was SO tired, he told me that he has never been as tired. Today I was teaching him again, he asked me in the beginning "Are we ging to do the Bas Rutten workout?" But he said it in a crazy way, so I asked him "Do you want to do it?". He said "Please, yes!" I asked him why, because all my PROFESSIONAL fighters don't want to do it.

He said "Bas, I want to conquer this thing, I want to do it!" Man, he gets, Lots, and losts of respect!

All the shit that people write about him, I am telling you, and I hope you know I don't lie, he's a trooper! I wish that all my fighters would be like him. Even my wife loves the guy. He is SO respectful and uses NO bad language in front of kids (my two little daughters love him, and they don't like anybody!), I am REALLY, blown away.

He really deserves this, I think this. Can a boxer be a MMA FIGHTER? We all know the answer, but can a street fighter be an MMA fighter? We all KNOW the answer to that!

I would wish that all my fighters were like him, like I said, I can put him through every workout I give him, he WILL do it, no questions asked.

I hope you guys meet Kimbo one day, you will be blown away. I just came back from an MMA event and I brought him there, just see how he is with the fans, it's crazy!

You also know that I would NEVER train an asshole, so trust me, but he's got me, Shawn Tompkins (who trained him longer than I have,) and Randy Kathami (boxing coach for my gym) respect. I REALLY love the guy.

This fight will be interesting. Bas is training Kimbo, but even still I'm curious to see if Kimbo will have the discipline to make this an MMA fight, and not a stand up exchange. If he only throws hands with Mercer he will probably get dropped in the first round. If the fight goes to the ground I see Kimb pulling out the TKO with GNP. Does anyone know if they are allowing elbows in this fight?

I honestly think that Kimbo might have a chance, if and only if he conditions his self right. When he fought that huge white guy, he was winded early into the fight. But Mercer has quicker hands. I also think this fights going look kind funny to see 2 "Non-MMA" fighter fighting for the first time.

The reason I believe Kimbo has a slight edge is the age difference. Mercer is in his 40's while Kimbo is in his early 30's. I will bet money that Kimbo is training harder than ever for this fight, and Mercer believes because of his pro background he has the upper hand. They are both heavy hitters but I promise you Kimbo will not get knocked out. Kimbo is not going to approach this fight like one of his backyard brawls, he will be be way more polished all around. Either way I cant wait to see them go at it.

You were rapping with your homie?

Did you have 'beef' with him or something?

Just kidding, but I never realized rap had such flagrant ubertones as just now.

Does anyone have a link to the fight where Kimbo loses to the fat white guy? I think I may have seen it before (if it goes around 9 or 10 mins) but would watch it again. Or even better does anyone have the fight where the guys eye gets knocked out?
