im watching some history channel shit about star wars and where it draws all its imagry from.

when they show clips of the last 3, i get all sentimental like 'fuck yeah' and when they show the first three, i'm like...seriously? this is fucking gay. pretty much everything about them is just pathetically awful. the stuff they added into the last 3 is wack too.

 

am i alone in this? are there people who actually think the 'prequels' can even compare?

I've seen the original Star Wars, but I was born in 84, so it's kinda hard to feel hella where you're coming from.

 

But I figure that like, your comparing something that was basically a legacy, and something that began a whole new era, to something that came out 20 or so years later just to finish up the series...

The third one was a good movie, but not comparable to the originals. I think some of the computer effects actually look worse than the old models. George Lucas is just a business man scum bag who came up with some good ideas in his youth.

 

Side note: I've held a piece of the death star. I was at a Christmas party and the guy who lived there worked on the models in the original three movies.

all of the prequels are horrible, and you can tell where the same nasty cgi shit is edited into the old ones. it ruins them.

the problem with the prequels, is that they're like everything else now a days: transparent and gimmicky. the dialogue sucked, they went for easy laughs (that floppy eared house nigger - i cant remember his name, yoda doing crazy flips and shit) its like they just did a bunch of stuff that people would want to see, or that would seem zaney, but none of it fits in with the last three. obviously you're going to have issues writing them so far apart, but still....fucking try dude. please?! they took 3 movies that basically were untouchable, and destroyed half of their credibility. stars wars became the metallica of movies. such a fucking let down.

 

its not really a generational thing, although i suppose that plays into it. but if you were to watch all six, watching the last 3 first, then the first 3, you'd see a serious decline in story telling, character development, intelligence, continuity, and every other aspect that makes a story a classic. as mentioned, even though the technology got better, honestly, it sort of effectively got worse. they relied too much on technology and bullshit and not enough on story. there would have never been a fucking 'pod race' in the first 3. that shit was thrown into the movie just to sell fucking video games. thats fucking disgusting. the fact that star wars fans didnt go ape shit and burn george lucases face off is a miracle.

 

this is making me mad. i need more beer.

they come more from greek/classic mythology than anything.

alot of the words (jedi etc) come from japanese.

yall should be watching history chnnel, you'd be knowing.

i like all the movies....you have to look at each on its own...it is a challenge to make films in a series so its obviously going to have mistakes
