IOU_TOO
Speaking of basil, I got a little zealous with them in my garden. Two regular, two purple, one cinnamon basil plant... So my friend and I did Basil Bash 2014: Basil Bash 2014.. Cucumber and basil salad. Orange basil shrimp, cilantro pesto and zucchini basil pancakes. by 236ism, on Flickr

backwaterbutthole
I am in the same boat, i got so much basil in the garden mix right now. Since California no longer has seasons i think i will be able to keep it moving into October. I never understood purple basil. Does it taste any different? Why don't i see purple pesto? bed framed
My grandma be on point with her garden veggies. I need to snap some pics. She has tomatoes, red and green peppers, cucumbers, corn, and some other shit I can't think of. Her neighbors gave her a trashbag full of bean stalks too She makes her own hot sauce and its so fuckin good! Spanish food tastes so much better with fresh ingredients
theprotester
Chuck some in a condiment dispenser with oil/garlic Whole leaf into salad is probably more common. It's closest to sweet basil, so no real reason I could think to not use it in a pesto.

theprotester
Haha. I noticed that as well. All photos taken with my phone, I think between the sun and the crate of bright green apples, it had nowhere to go but purple. Cheers. I try and be 'organic', so coffee grounds have gone down. Fingers crossed. Majorly pissed though, I was expecting to be jarring my first batch now. Snails. Man my life is simple now. injury
do you guys make curries? i just tried to make my first one tonight and the flavor seemed kinda ... flat, not as sophisticated of a flavor profile as restaurant curries i've had. (i'm also one dude with an amateur's kitchen and only a little experience). this recipe involved: - light coconut milk - chopped tomato - ground sea salt - sweet potato - chickpeas - peas (omitted, i didn't have any) - thai basil (i used ordinary fresh basil since i didn't have thai) - curry powder (hot) - korean chili powder any obvious omissions on my part? i had a handful of ideas: - pineapples or even kiwi, something sweet. or just cane sugar? - using fresh dry chickpeas (soaked in water w/ spices overnight) instead of the canned ones - lime juice? redeyedanimal
Are you omitting the spices you used, or is that where you went with it? Looks like he used a curry spice blend. I've had a couple that were surprisingly good, from an asian market.
