lord_casek
qba: you need more cooling. what are you pc specs? i'm a big fan of copper and huge fans http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=574&name=CPU-Fans-Heatsinks you could easily add some more fans that cost $10-$25 and get away with not messing with your heatsink, but i'd go ahead and buy a zalman or something. if you need any more help, lemme know. QbaOner
well i just cleaned out my comp and the resinated fans.. i couldnt believe how much shit was in that bitch.. also added an exhaust fan right under my vid card..no more beepin on some intense renders..still takes a while to render but it runs quiet now.. this month i have a rigging class which is cool too but i wont be able to model anything.. we already get premade models which are done on point (edge spacing) and will be bringing them bitches to zbrush and back sooner or later.. Burn the ISO using Alcohol 120% or similar to CD. 2. Click autorun.exe if doesn't autorun itself when mounted. 3. Directions on how to crack are written in the crack folder. 4. Install and Enjoy 5. If any questions, post a comment or messagee me. I will do my best to help you. Enjoy!!! ******************************************************************************************* Updates: To install the crack follow these directions: *assuming you read the old crack install.txt, do this instead* 1) Goto run 2) Type cmd 3) Type ipconfig /all 4) Get your Ethernet mac id and enter that into the aw.dat , close and save 5) Right click drag aw.dat onto awkeygen.exe and select open with 6) Then install the license file Thanks to texbeer for fixing the crack issue." serum
ok that sounds similar to the crack i have for softimage Note: 1) Install XSI 6.0. If you have Avid Xpress pro HD select you want to install avid mojo software. 2) After installing go to start->all programs->Softimage products and select license manager. select edit config. file and be sure that the voice DONGLE_PORT is setted to COM1 and not IBU. If it's IBU just delete it and write COM1, save the file. 3) from crack.exe extract and overwrite files into system32\spm\ folder. 4) from license server and start the server, close the window and enjoy XSI -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- this is the one i have for maya 1. First Create a directory on the c: drive (even if you install maya on different drive) called FLEXLM 2. Copy the aw.dat and awkeygen.exe file to this directory. 3. Install Maya 4. Goto start-->all programs-->Autodesk-->common utilities-->FlexLM license utilities 5. Under system settings copy Ethernet address 6. Open the file (from the directory FLEXLM) aw.dat with Wordpad and replace the words "your host" with the copied Ethernet address. Save and close wordpad 7. Using the run utility and type: awkeygen.exe aw.dat 8. Goto start-->all programs-->Autodesk-->Maya 8.0-->Install license select "I would like to install license from a file" 9. Browse to the path of the file aw.dat 10. Click install 11. Restart computer LINUX: ------ Start at Step 3. Your license (default) dir is /var/flexlm so copy the generated aw.dat (you did that on a windows machine in dos) into that directory. OSX: --- Your license (default) dir is /var/flexlm so copy the generated aw.dat (you did that on a windows machine in dos) into that directory. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- :crap: so that one you posted is specifically for removing watermark? spadeo
Oh. I am glad i stumbled across this thread. I have been using zbrush for about a year. And Z3 is great. The software is super affordable and is really strange when you first start using it. But once you get how the tools and subtools work it is super fun. Here are some random images from my zbrushing. Great program. The soldier guy is for a contest that I am in and i am using zbrush for modeling and texturing. Here is the link for anybody interested... spadeo
Thx.. Casek.. Hmm. as far as any advice i would say to get a wacom tablet if you do not already have one. They are great and i could not imagine working without one now. Also, if you can use maya or 3dsmax, those have come in handy for making the base meshes for me because sometimes turning zspheres into meshes gives strange folds in the mesh. So if you have the ablilty to use 3dsmax or something to box model what you want then bring it into zbrush that could be helpful. But zspheres are great as well, i just find more issues with them the more i work with them. Hope this helps. Have you all checked out zbrushcentral.com? There is insane work on that site. There is insane work on that site. i need a wacom. yeah, i have plenty of experience with 3dsm, but i stopped using it a while back. i'm sure i've forgotten alot of stuff i learned. zspheres are a pain to work with sometimes. you're def on point about that. zbrushcentral is where i learned about zbrush. i visit it from time to time. have put off working with zbrush for a bit. i need to get back into it. so, do you do any professional 3d work? spadeo
Hey.. Saw this tread laggin so i will update this guy here. Manatee core mesh completed in 3dsmax, then sculpted and textured in the new Zbrush 3.1 The updated 3.1 is sick. What a great program. seeking
so...i dont get it. you 'render' these things, and then what? post them on the internet to impress other people who use zbrush? is there any practical application for these things?
spadeo
post them on the internet to impress other people who use zbrush? is there any practical application for these things? Every single movie you see with special effects nowadays has probably used zbrush to sculpt. It is a huge program in the industry. The lists of practical uses, from the medical industry all the way down to creating and modeling toys, is really limitless. I am not going to break down 3d graphics and animation here, but you use zbrush or any other 2d/2.5d or 3d program to create illustrations, animations, or video game characters and environments. 3d illustration is just much more complex or can develop much more complex images then traditional illustration techniques. This "render" is just an early character that will be encompassed in an overall larger "illustration" It can also be brought into a modeling program such as Maya or Max and animated, have him talk.. etc. much like the characters in Toy Story and such. The characters need to be modeled, sculpted, and textured before you can animate pose and or create an illustration. This (manatee) is an early model, rendered as a still with no background yet. Here is a finished illustration by a guy named Meats (www.3dartspace.com) He is a maya/zbrush "master" as they call it. The guy was probably modeled and sculpted separately and added into a scene that he built. Much like the manatee will be eventually. Hope that helps. Try www.zbrushcentral.com to see the insane stuff being created by some of the best artists out there... Rick Baker... etc. There is also a great video showing how the software works, how sculpting is accomplished etc..

MimikOctopus
Meats Miere is crazy. He actually sold me on Zbrush after I saw him do a demo at Siggraph a few years back. Anyway, something to consider reading up on is surface topology and edge loops. It's one thing to make a good looking model, but sometimes you may find if your topology is incorrect things break or do things you don't intend when you try to pose the model. I wish I had more time to get back into Maya/Zbrush, but I'm back in school (I have a degree in 3d animation) for web development and between that and my internship I have no time. Good luck to everyone. When I get home I'll find the link I had to some GREAT tutorial movies that start with the very concept of Zbrush and it's interface, all the way to setting up image reference planes and then on to modeling a photo realistic human skull step by step. I snagged the course material off a teacher somewhere, though I'm sure it's on youtube at this point...... An alternative to Zbrush if anyone is interested is called Mudbox. From what I hear it's a bit easier to use, Zbrush's interface is.... Cumbersome at times. Especially if you come from a more traditional 3d package. Hope to see some cool stuff here. *edit* found the link http://houseoftutorials.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=section&id=5&Itemid=
