Yeah that couch faces west for sunsets, so I go out there most nights.

It is not a busy street, but there is a jogging path and just enough traffic to make it interesting people watching.

House is nice and everything.

But it looks mad unlived in.

Like a show house or something.

The house is brand new & cleaned up for photos.. and I got a wife ;)

...but I also got a kid and two dogs, so they scatter toys & shit everywhere.

Well, I'm done with the nitelife phase.

I'm in my mid 30's, have a wife, a kid, and want another kid too.

It was either move to Chicago suburbs, and live in an over-priced shack w/ 9 months of winter

OR

Move to Chicago's biggest suburb(AZ) with better weather, affordable housing... and NO SCUMBAGS.

Ten years ago I would've hated it here, now I love being johnny suburbs.

I swear I had pics of my last house in here too, but could not find them.

Congrats. Don't sink too much money into your starter if it will only be temporary. I know it is tempting to make it as livable as possible, but you need to keep in mind you'll only get a fraction of the $ you put into back.

Unless of course, you bought at the bottom, then you'll be fine once the market rebounds, so renovate all day.

I bought my first home at the peak. It was move in ready and did not need much work. However, my wife is an interior designer, so she eventually cracked and began to upgrade. She did a nice job with the kitchen and bathrooms, it was a good place, but we'll never see that money again.

I still own that house too. I am renting it to a friend, and will continue to rent it until we can make most of our money back. meh. I'll probably have to put a new roof on it before I sell too. fffffffuuuuuuuuu

So yeah, I'm gonna lose on that property when I do sell, but it is the nicest house on the block, so it should sell when I choose to. My only consolation was getting into in this new home for half the sale price it was 2 years ago.

So lose = win, in the end I'll come out on top.

As you get older, your priorities change. Props.
