Re: What do you think of the HK hip-hop scene?

don't know what to say, but i walked into a calculus class yesterday -- mostly asians. i asked some dude that looked fobby if this was mr. plotquin's class. wrong person to ask. the fob shakes his head and says "no." and he could barely say "no," his english was so bad. then he tried to utter the proffessor's name: "prrotki." so it was his class. i can understand not knowing english but that's no excuse of not knowing the teacher's name. /end rant

Yeah well my hella rightwing conservative christian friend told me he can tell who has aids by their sexual orientation, and my black friend told me he can tell who likes watermelon by the shine of the chicken grease on their lips. Just kidding. But it still sounds like a racial slur. FOB= asian F.resh O.ff B.oat. Not talking shit, jus sayin'.

It's a generalization and assumption based on physical appearance/race. Mostly blacks say "nigga", it's still a racial slur. Look dude, I wasn't knocking you when I said thanks for teaching me a new word. I'm not racist, I just have a sense of humor some people find offensive. Never the less, I still think it's a racial slur. Who cares?

the difference is "nigga" wasn't created by blacks. "fob" was created by asians. plus, when blacks use "nigga," they don't put an "er" at the end and it's not used as a racial slur, but more like "dude" or "man." the word has more than one meaning depending on the context in which you use it. you're right it's not a big deal but i just wanted to let you know it wasn't a racial slur since you said the word is "new" to you.
