That's racialist...

So... There is a Euro company that is making graffiti ink called...

head_black.gif

^^With all the ideas for saying that your ink is opaque; That it's

the darkest, blackest ink, possible. What ideas could be used?

"LETS USE THE BLACK FACE! YEAH!"

This is completely hilarious and sad at the same time. I don't

know if I should be appalled or if I should place an order to get

some of this stuff just have it sitting on the coffee table as a quaint

hopefully confusing and or disturbing conversation piece...

"Oh that... Yeah, its just my Mr.Black, black ink."

"Black - Face? No... Well, I've never heard of that."

"Whats is it?"

Do blatantly racial icons get used often, and most people just

don't know the origin or the potential context of the icon? As I get

older, I tend not really care about this stuff, and I don't now, but

rather find it highly amusing. /no racist

What the hell else is out there??

Nah the only real race issue we seem to have is in the welfare system as I explained in another thread a while back. I had to encounter it today when applying for Austudy online, when I was asked on 3 separate occasions if I was aboriginal/torres straight islander/something i have only seen once before. I mean all these races claim to be Aussie but yet they still ask these questions to classify you under a different welfare scheme.

What I meant by cool thread was that some of these racially motivated marketing schemes would go unnoticed by society other than the demographic which is portrayed (thats if they are racially sensitive in the first place). I just thought it was clever of you to pick up on it. I still remember the black face featured on that ink product as being similar to one Tom & Jerry character though.

Thats really what I was getting at as well...

I feel like these sort of themes excel in certain cases, and

totally go unnoticed for long periods of time. It's a strong part

of our(human) culture that has always been around. The subtle

usage of over exaggerated themes of other peoples(race) culture

to bring down a culture and to sell a theme. It's the double edge

sword that doesn't hurt the one wielding it, but actually does

twice the damage in the long run.

Maybe I AM still sensitive about things of this nature.

Ah well.

The market for black ink is already well established, and with black ink its difficult to differentiate your product, these guys needed a campaign with shock value and they got it.

Kids are all about novelty with inks and markers, when something new comes out its like an impulse for them to try it...I wouldnt be suprised if thats made by an existing company and they've just labelled some bottles differently for some quick sales.
