mixtapes are illegal now??

but they are free now, were released

after signing a $100,000 signature bond

but i hope this shit doesn't happen anymore

if the RIAA fuck up the mixtape game its over

Yeah, you know... I would think "mixtapes" are a form of copyright infringement... alot of dj's don't have rights to copy and pass music on, or to use other peoples' music for their revenue gain. I don't know why this hasn't been an issue in the past.

mixtapes were always illegal. it's only one step away from bootlegging really. but they're usually better than actual albums, so the labels need to quit being salty and get with the program

Yeah, I can understand that... I just don't see how so many dj's that are claiming to be music innovators and the like, I don't understand how they can make an album and use the hook from someone else's song and stuff like that. Isn't that like straight stealing unless they got prior permission to do so?

well, technically, but hip hop's always been about using existing music to make your beats, and occasionally using existing hooks and choruses, and appropriating them for your songs.

i am picturing a detail like on the wire with a bunch of cops thinking about how theyre gonna take down the criminals who bootlegged all those compact discs....i mean this was a strategized raid on these dudes like some FBI or ATF mahfuckas busted in the door and took everything....over some fucking compact discs????????

 

lol wiretaps and hand to handsto get whoever put out that new jeezy.....i heard dj clue is dropping the dj and just wants to be called clue...graff is no longer the only illegal element of hip hop

I dont know... Maybe they do, but I'm not sure of the laws, so I was just curious on what rides and what doesnt...

Good shit.

Hopefully this will inhibit the mainstream infiltration of crappy music into everybody's lives.

Or at least allow people to come up with 'original' music as opposed to stealing other people's 'beats' etc.
