which fucking genius at apple decided it was a good idea to line the edge of the macbook with fucking razor blades?!

ok, they arent razor blades, but the edge, where your wrists wrest on, are a very sharp plastic that seriously feels like its cutting into your wrist. its fucking retarded. now im gonna have to sit here with a tiny file, filing them down.

apple is usually all about the ergonomics, but they fell off on this one.

no, it hasnt actually cut me, but i do get some minor scrapes and deep lines pressed into my skin.

i honestly just dont know how it passed through development like this. even if its just slightly irritating, its something that could have been remedied with a tiny bevel on the edge. anyone who used a prototype while wearing short sleeves would have noticed it.

Ummm rather than scraping the fuck out of your computer why not just get some thick tap or someshit to put over the edge?

or you could seal the edge up with some sort of sealant, like a thin strip of clear caulk(sp?)

it's bullshit that someone would have to modify their laptop because of poor designing.

i would be pissed.

I thought I typed this...

I don't get it, is it just like the edge of the plastic or something? I'm looking at my girls it doesn't look sharp.

well, besides the fact that the top would no longer close, there by nullifying the portability that i paid extra to have, i would not have to 'scrape the fuck' out of it. i'd take a small file or my dremel and slightly round off the edge, so its no longer a sharp point. it would take about 5 minutes wouldn't even be noticable.

why don't i do that, instead of starting a thread about it? because im quite certain that there is someone else out there who has thought the same thing. they will see this and we will bond. everything doesnt have to be all hate all the time.

type on it for a second, wresting your wrist on the edge of the 'deck' on top. or just run your wrist against the corner there. unless mine is specifically defective, you'll feel it.

I guess it is a lot sharper than on my Viao... Hmmm.

Lemme just type some shit real quick...

... No I could see how this could start bugging you after a while. That's pretty bummy man, I think the girl elevates her wrist when she types. I think that's better for your wrists in the long run... You could try that?

macbook pro is totally different.

overview-hero.jpg

on the edge of the 'deck', the top panel bevels all the way over the edge.

you cant see it in the pics on the apple site, but the deck on the macbook stops about a 16th of an inch from the edge, and then the sides meet up. it's the sides that are the sharp part.

Actually that grey piece kind of looks like an add-on that they put there to remedy the problem. It's sharper that my Sony though for sure. Which is what I thought you were talking about...

If it's just the edge of the plastic then yeah that shit probably sucks.

why didnt i think to just ask you in the first place?

i should have known your solution would be both practical, as well as metal.

One time I was on the city bus.

And some metal nerd got on.

He was caressing a new set of spiked gauntlets.

I guess he thought I looked metal.

So he tried to chat me up.

Then it came around to him wanting to hang out.

He said he would sell me pills.

I took the bait.

He came to my house to sell me said pills.

And noticed that I was like, mad elemental son.

The next time I saw him he was clad in a throw back jersey.

Gold chain.

Caddilac with neon lights and fancy system.

Fitted hat.

He looked the part of the typical white hip hop asshole who's idol is Paul Wall.

I would get him to give me rides.

To go hang out with kids that weren't assholes.

I don't know what any of this really has to do with your wrist situation.

But it almost tied in somehow.

Almost.

Not quite.

Either way.

That dude was a complete assface.

They were some bullshit.

That I didn't even want.

He gave them to me for free.

I think I gave them to someone else.

Then he tried to talk me into taking photos.

Sexy photos.

That kid was so clueless.

I don't remember his name.

And probably wouldn't be able to pick him out of a line-up.
