Can someone break down the Wii for me. Because I don't get how swinging your video game controller like it's a fucking sword is a good idea. Honestly it sounds like THE WORST FUCKING IDEA EVER.

Isn't that why nobody bought those stupid PS2 eye toys or whatever they were called. Because jumping around and looking like a spastic idiot in front of your tv set isn't something that anyone with balls in their scrotum would do.

people spend $800 for "Authentic" throw back jerseys.......

pretty much it goes:

"People spend $XXX on XXX! It's stupid", people spend their money in ways that are stupid to you or everyone else for that matter, but make perfect sense to them. keyword "THEIR" money. Long live the free market economy

Did you know that famous 'free market economy' advocate Milton Friedman died yesterday?

I agree with your post SpyD, it is their money and what they choose to do with it is their business. Personally, I'd spend that money hiring some hookers, shooting a 'pee in the butt' porn vid and then selling it online to all you guys at 12oz.

wii, interestingly enough, is japanese for "shitty idea"....

LOL! Homeboy at work is all into the video games and was bragging about his jawn that he's on a waiting list for and how the controler is like a remote control. I said "wouldn't your thumb get all cramped up after the first minute?". His face dropped a little, then he thought for a second or two and said "naw man, that shit's gonna be dope."

what i wanna know is how the hell you are meant to walk around in Zelda with that thing? Are you meant to use that d-pad to do it? I can't see it working too well, but this is from someone who has an original 'Power Glove' sitting around.

I remember playing Mike Tysons with that glove and getting furious at how I was always gettign knocked the fuck out. It gathered dust pretty quickly.

you use that analog stick in the other hand to move around

Uh.. I think you can buy regular controllers... and Zelda won't be using the 'swing' technology or whatever. Too much effort. People get tired or something. Someone mentioned it on here, I thought.

Zelda wil def use the "swing" technology.

You move by using the "Nunchuk" setup.

revoultion-wii-controller.jpg

It looks bizarre, but give the idea a chance.

For a shooting game for instance, the Nunchuk attachment would be used to move forward/back/left/right , holding another button on the Wiimote will change the analog function to strafing.

Meanwhile the Wiimote would be used like a gun (For simplification think duck hunt).

I personaly think this is a great idea, regardless if it catches on or not.

Imagine online tournaments with a really really well done swordfighting game.

The winner wouldn't win due to button combos / stick coordination,

Instead it would be due to mastery of movement.

Everyone laughed at the DS when it came out, now "success" is an understatement regarding the console.

I have faith that Nintendo will make this work beautifully.

Part of the IGN review of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Review

The big difference, of course, is that on Wii you use both Nintendo's nunchuk attachment and its innovative new remote to manipulate Link and his weapons/items respectively. Gesturing with the Wii remote, you can easily and effortlessly swing the hero's sword. The gestures don't effect one-to-one movement, as so many had hoped - and yes, it would've been nice if the Big N could have pulled it off. However, they perfectly replace the need for button taps - a requirement in the GameCube version -- and after only a few minutes of familiarization become the preferable way to play. You don't need to flail your arms around like a monkey on fire in order to accurately control Link's blade - you can choose to make minimal movements and you will never run into a single issue. You can, alternatively, exact long, arching gestures and they will work, too. You won't get tired. Our arms weren't aching after more than 50 hours of play time. We weren't out of breath. In contrast, we found ourselves much more immersed in the experience of combat, as simulating a sword swipe is simply more engaging and therein more satisfying than pressing a button.

Furthermore, the advantages of the Wii remote become blindingly clear when Link uses projectile weapons. Whether the hero is armed with the Gale Boomerang, the Slingshot, the Hookshot or a great new staff whose power we won't spoil, targeting with the pointer is so far and away better than using an analog stick that the latter feels archaic and broken by comparison. The Wii remote opens up a level of speed and accuracy never before experienced in a Zelda title and you will within a matter of hours be able to ride Epona through Hyrule Field while delivering fatal bow-and-arrow headshots to ground-based and airborne foes. To the point: this new method of control obliterates the former one and there is no going back.

Pity I don't have disposable income...

Sounds fucking sick.

I got a ps3 I waited 38 hours in line at the shopko in town, which only got 4. As for Zelda, you can go on Utube and look at how zelda uses teh new controller in game, its pretty crazy, for shooting bows, sword fights, etc. its pretty crazy id probably just want the regular controller i think i would get tired of the new one.

Okay so as of now. We already have sold out of Wiis. We have 100 people waiting in line over night for this system. So just in this store we have outsold K-feds album...

I haven't talked shit about either system. I think PS3 will outsell Nintendo Wii, but being as Nintendo is making money on their system and has made alot more, they'll be fine...

Seriously...

Everyones out here watching the Wii episode of Southpark.

On the way home from work I passed a Best Buy that had a line of 19 people.

I was wide awake so said what the hell, bundled up and got in line.

The line turned to about 170 by 8 am, I got number 20 of 100 tickets.

When I tried to get a PS3 I had no intention of keeping it, it was def to sell on ebay.

I really don't want to sell this Wii though...

Going for about 500-600 on eBay, think this is the time to sell it?

Or wait for Xmas madness (unless Nintendo gets stores all stocked up).

Or do I say fuck it and keep it...
