phax
so anyone tried the idj2??? it looks pretty sweet if it actually does what it says, but it's probably too good to be true... gotta find a store where i can test it out
why write
cant go wrong with numark tt200's
Elizabeth MontgomeryOner
Nope haven't tried it. It does seem like it would crumble an ipod. I think it could really kill the dj, well for small clubs that use ipods anyway. few specs: _ Ability to scratch music (eh i wouldn't) _ Real-time visuals include Track Profiles and Waveforms _ Record to an iPod or other connected USB media -Facilitates mixing with three or more USB Hard Drives or Apple iPod’s with USB hub -Many USB ports to plug in iPods, memory keys and hard drives nice & hard drives crash too

Qawee
Right now my setup is 2 1200s with an oforton(sp) cartridge, and a shure white label cartridge, and some shitty numark mixer, next upgrade will be the vestax 05 joint and some non walkman headphones
M_I
for a good scratch mixer- anything from the vestax line will do.....cheaper jawns include some of the better stanton stuff, and the higher priced ecler and mayb denon stuff.... and yes, the tt200's (numark) kick ass!- i copped em for a friend for $200 new, theyre great to learn on and fuck around with.... for needles/carts i stick with shure's and ortofon, but i have used stanton needles and audio-technicas in the past with no problem.... anyone else goin the midi route with me? i was thinkin of just usin a laptop w/ virtual dj, and a usb midi controller- im thinkin the HERCULES MKII ........ill post pics/specs later... RumPuncher
My stantons aren't very strong in the torque department, certainly after borrowing my friends' tech1200's last year. It's not great for really hard scratching, but it's fine for dropping in the first beat of a mix. Just like any turntable, you just have to get to know how it feels and adapt to fit. and just because everyone cares...... I have about 70 house promos and whitelables I "found" a while ago, and last night I really sat down and said "I'm going to learn to beatmtach." Well it turns out that it's really damn easy to get house tracks matched and I guess with practice it will just get easier and easier. serum
anyone have experience replacing parts in the mixer yourself? i remember reading on a dj site that its easy to do but i cant find the damn site now. basically i need to replace my fader. i figure i could do it by just ordering the part myself and soder it myself. any experience doing this? or should i just send it to vestax/or a dj store and have them replace it because im likely to fuck it up? if so how much was it? Harvey Wallbanger
You don't usually have to solder or anything if you just want to change your fader. It's pretty easy in most neweer mixers. What type do you have?
serum
vestax 07 pro even better if i dont have to solder anything. it took me long enough to get off thoughs damn minature screws to get the cover off.
