Hoblow
Re: getting my hot tub fixed. I'm in the same boat. We've got a hot tub at the place we're renting. We need to get someone to come around and clean it, then show us how the motherfuckin thing works. I mean, they're not that complicated normally, I've found, but this one has crazy switches and pumps and dials all over the place. Fucked if I know how to work it. En Sabah Nur
Re: getting my hot tub fixed. i've been looking around the internets since the guy hasn't shown up twice. i think i can clean it myself. there are a few things i need to figure out though: 1) if the dull finish on the shell and the weatherbeaten cover are going to be any sort of problem. 2) how to turn off the electricity so i can drain it, and if i'm going to need a wrench to open the drain valve. yeah, i've figured out how the switches on mine work, but not exactly what the dials do. the labels are kind of gross and worn off. i never realized that hot tubs are generally not connected to pipes, and that you just fill them and drain them with a hose. En Sabah Nur
Re: getting my hot tub fixed. so i cleaned it but the heating element's burnt out. i thought this wouldn't be a problem, since regular water heater elements are like $12 at home depot. for some reason the specific one for this hot tub is like $300. so i was considering rigging myself a couple of the $12 ones in a water-tight (so as not to fry everyone i know) assembly and figuring out the electrical specs to get it to work.... anyone have any clues as to what i would need to get the proper voltage and whatnot to be able to plug it into the wall? or is this probably just flat-out too risky? mr.yuck
nah go for it. All you need is some wire, electrical tape, a male plug, an empty 2 liter, and some wire strippers. It should be easy for you to figure out from there.
En Sabah Nur
do you think the plug going from the wall to wire on the connections on the element would be the correct voltage or would i need some sort of transformer or whatever? i'm gonna do more than electrical tape, probably pvc plaster. iloveboxcars
if course it's the correct voltage.
En Sabah Nur
it's listed as 240v, and homes in the us are 120v. so do you think i'd need a step-up transformer?
