King Of Hell
Alot of stuff you guys are suggesting isn't even considered "soul". It's more along the lines of 70's R&B, early eighties pop(soul to soul-back to life...come on....), or borders the "funk" catagory. I mean I guess it makes sense because later Earth, Wind and Fire are more 70's R&B than they are soul anyway, but there is a difference in all of these types of music. Yeah that's true... but a lot are from the same era and funk, disco, and "70's R&B" are closely related. I know I put in some disco acts on my list like Bounce Rock Roll Skate, Boogie Oogie Oogie, some funk like George Clinton songs, and some early 80's (black) pop stuff (I think that's around when the soul era died)... still black pop-funk from the 80's is strongly influenced by the soul of the 60's and 70's. King Of Hell
Yeah I guess, with the exception that none of it was as good. It all had that leftover dry ass 70's conservative Disco feel to most of the music, while 50's and 60's soul really had more of a speeded up, wet blues feel, and thats wht the early Rock and Roll came from. For some reason the 70's is in my opinion the worst music era for black music. I stray way more tward the actual 50's and very early 50's soul music. Theo Huxtable.
For some reason the 70's is in my opinion the worst music era for black music. Are you serious? George Clinton. Kool & The Gang. Earth Wind & Fire, Marvin Gaye. Isley Brothers. Curtis Mayfield. The list goes on.
King Of Hell
Marvin Gaye is the only one on that list I give a shit about. I hate the "Funk" era. It's just not for me.

I agree...some of that could be considered blues though too, but i also agree that 75% or more of what was listed isn't considered soul.
