iloveboxcars
my car doesnt turn over sometimes. it acts like the battery is dead but i'll try it acouple hours later with no jump or anything and it starts up fine. its not a loose battery cable, that shit is tighter than finger condoms on a black mans dick. i dont see how it could be a power drain because it starts up again after acouple hours.. what the fuck is going on? any insights? metronome
maybe your alternator is starting to die? edit: you said your battery connections are nice and tight, but is there any corrosion there?
tango 24
anyone you hate put sugar in your tank recently?
metronome
^ that doesn't exactly work these days on account of your gas tank having a cover-valve mechanism
iloveboxcars
no there's no corrosion. i really hope it isnt the alternator, that shit is in a rediculous place on this car and i dont really feel like going through the motions of taking that piece of shit out. metronome
does your car make use of a diagnostics tool of any sort? edit: if it does you can take it to autozone and see if its firing out any codes. the other thing you could do is check your ignition wiring to make sure everything is still nice and tight and intact. iloveboxcars
ignition wiring being faulty would result in not even an attempt to start though. my car turns and turns.. and then turns slower. and then i stop trying to start it. metronome
the other thing to keep in mind is your fuel pump. turn your key to the on position without trying to start the engine, you should hear a whirring sound.

iloveboxcars
oh that must be it! i still have the "summer air" in my tires and it's already October!
Zack Morris
check the ignition system and check the starter. The bindex for your starter could be failing to engage or as happened to me one time disengage. THe motor could be burnt up. Check the wiring to it also. report back for further instruction. Dirty_habiT
If there is no CEL, then the OBDII diagnostic will not tell you shit. It only pulls codes if you have a CEL. I do, however, however agree with metronome. It could be your alternator. There's a relay that controls your alternator (most of the time) also, so keep that in mind. I can almost garauntee that it's the alternator though. Be glad it's that and not something like a head gasket. Also, check your plugs, if they're fucked up, buy new ones... do NOT forget to gap them correctly, a gap tool is cheap and will save you some driveability headaches when you're running correctly gapped plugs. does your car make use of a diagnostics tool of any sort? edit: if it does you can take it to autozone and see if its firing out any codes. the other thing you could do is check your ignition wiring to make sure everything is still nice and tight and intact. i11igul
it def. sounds like the starter. mine bad a few months ago and would do the same thing, fuel pump would engage, it would attempt to turn over, strong at first then diminish in strength...who knows though, you said it was a ugo?
