I don't see the difference between wrecking one part of the city and not the other. or suburbs vs city. individual writers have individual "rules" on what they bomb. I respect that. but respect that other people might not have any. that includes big corporations all the way down to mom and pop stores. graff can be about putting your name up or it can a politically motivated thing as to attack big money corporations. there are a lot of different writers in this whole graff world and I hate the "rules" that other writers try to put on it. its a morality thing. like your mother yelling at you not to look at porn. That said, let me reply to some of the things said below. And just to let you know, I do like to research things and have researched the whole etch issue extensively. Ammo - You are right. Not having a personal stake in the game, I can appreciate both sides a little. Graffiti is going to change. When graffiti first started making a big comeback and getting popular, violent crime statistics were through the roof. Cops and even citizens weren't worried about graffiti. But violent crime is very low, and like anything else, when you get the big jobs out of the way, you concentrate on the details. The details include graffiti, and a lot of training, equipment and technology is going into the battle. Destruction by Definition - It doesn't matter small business or corporate, the heat is on with etch. Handjob - You are absolutely correct about the affect this has on business traffic and the replacement of the window. And what you are saying about the game thing is right there and I think if we explored that more it would be interesting. illicon - For being stupid enough to mix chemicals like that without knowing anything about it, you deserve to have your hands fall off from chemical burn or something. The Dude - Yes some etch damage can be buffed out, this is usually when the writer mixed or diluted the chemical too much and didn't get a good etch. Even still buffing is incredibly expensive, weakens the strength and clarity of the glass, and isn't always possible. I will finish this after lunch...replacements here and got to go. This is my opnion though, and I personally beleive it to be the most sensible thing that has been said yet, amongst us. It is a good tool to get up. I agree.. But like someone else said, take it to the majorcorportations.. its a good tool. Hit the transit shelters, phone booths, CK stores, STARBUCKS, and other such chains of stores. another thing with it is, if you can catch tags in your city, and suburbs with markers and tags without getting them buffed for long periods of time.. why bother using etch? You don't need it to stay up, and it simply brings more heat onto the city? Writers need to worry about things like that as well, not just getting up. for the record, it IS very possible to cause the extinction of graffiti in your own city just by doing STUPID things without thinking... use your brains when you are getting up, and don't do things that don't NEED to be done.. think realisticly and bomb according to what needs to be done to stay up, and be up the most!! ALWAYS THINK THOUGH, STUPIDTY AND IGNORANCE ARE NOT AN EXCUSE. and as for STAK saying that "real writers don't give a fuck", thats the stupidist comment I've ever heard. generally its the little toy shits who don't give a fuck. real writersbombers want to preserve their culture and be able to do their thing without to much heat.
