Harvey Wallbanger
I think the word you're looking for is "shanty".
iloveboxcars
i think the word you mean is chantey because shanty is a really terrible "house" i learned this from the os gemeos section in that one 12ozprophet magazine.
Harvey Wallbanger
Oh, yeah... I remember that. I'd say the best way to answer this question would be to watch the movie Cabin Boy... but that's my answer for just about everything. 26SidedCube
I think the word you're looking for might be 'bellow'. That or 'croon'. 'Wail', maybe?
Smart
well... the chanty > shanty > chantey argument seems to have been settled so, I guess there's nothing I can really do here... mostly all those are 'correct' according to people who aren't here... I always thought that it was 'shanty' but I'm aware of the French, uh, command I guess... "chantez!" that means 'sing'... so... How come I still don't hear singing? tango 24
in english its a shanty, because the english didnt like the poncy way the french said it chantez is french for sing in the imperative, making it a direct order given a jig is something i associate with the irish and saturday nights in the freight yard
