injury Posted July 7, 2009 Share Posted July 7, 2009 didnt alot of dc trackside stuff get buffed because the opening of acela service? what year did the buff come through? well... the acela service started around 2000, but the amtrak lines take only one route of the city, the ex-PRR northeast corridor, whch is electrified & pretty hard to miss. the roadbed is a different color, the track is welded 100 pound rail, and the ties are concrete. not a lot of people paint along the amtrak line in dc because there aren't a whole lot of spots in comparison to, say, the red line. matter fact, baltimore heads paint the amtrak way more than dc writers seem to.. the red line or the other rail lines that go out of dc that get painted more regularly belonged to a few different railroads but now are all CSX, i think. they're freight lines, and those don't see passenger service except for MARC and VRE trains. Con Posted July 8, 2009 Share Posted July 8, 2009 They buffed the Amtrak line from DC at Union Station all the way up to Philly(or further) back in 99-00. I can't remember exactly which year anymore. This is also when an Amtrak cop was working with MPD as a 'vandal squad' in our area. They also had the loot at the time to run a ghetto bird up and down the line for a bit. Previous to the buff the walls were crushed by Some and Raz all the way up. Later taken over after the buff by Ero and Apes. Much respect to both teams for a huge amount of work.
