roids
Hate if you want. Great music. I especially want to know if any non-white people listen to it. Alan Jackson, Big and Rich, Blane Larsen, Brad Paisley, Brooks and Dunn, Craig Morgan, Dierks Bentley, Garth Brooks, George Strait, Jack Ingram, Joe Nichols, Keith Anderson, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Little Big Town, Rascal Flatts, Sugarland, Tim Mcgraw, Toby Keith, Trace Adkins, Travis Tritt, etc etc. Discuss. the man the myth the GOON
i really like the old era of country, but new country western is just out of control. i won't say that the rock scene is better, because its not, but not into it... shitting
I'm a fan, i don't like that cliched country style, but I love the folky side of country............Townes Van Zandt, emmylou Harris, woody guthrie, gillian welsch, steve earle. Townes Van Zandt is particular is faultless, rarely a mediocre song gotta say, I have serious doubts that Keith Urban is any good ps., i'm white

AC/DC
No one's mentioned Willie Nelson yet. Storytellers with Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson was seriously one of the best albums I ever got. Ever.
otto dix
to break it down: country music post early-80's is total shit with very few exceptions. if you are genuinely interested in hearing what good country is meant to sound like (and not what they are passing off today and making hank williams roll in his grave) check out.... -marty robbins (gunfighter ballads) -hank snow (railroad man or any album really) - anything by johnny horton -merle haggard (any album but definately mama tried) -john prine (the greatest hits album is all you need) -ralph stanley (smithsonian collection is dope) -lee hazlewood (trouble is a lonesome town) -woodie guthrie (dustbowl ballads) these are some of my personal faves anyway.
