I'd only seen snippets of it on TV and it didn't quite grab my attention. But the more I read about it (this thread included) and the whole satirical aspect made me curious. The makeup/FX were pretty damn great, they still hold up nicely (with the exception of some spaceship closeups, which look like cardboard) despite it being nearly 10 years old. I think they were talking about how they wanted a fascist feeling to the boot camp part, how the drill instructor is a real nazi bastard etc (however in the movie he's pretty much portrayed as a hero).
