What are the rights of a visitor/tourist to the united states

In particular a citizen of a foreign western country. Europe, UK, Aus/NZ.

Do we get temporary cover from the so feverishly revered bill of rights?

Do I have the right to deny a search of my car? Can I purchase a firearm? Am I entitled to free speech? etc

i would think you are protected by our laws to an extent.

(just as we are)

don't make a scene of yourself, don't rob anyone, don't smart off to a cop,

and i think you'll be fine.

The laws and rights of tourists apply in the USA. Aside from things that you'd need citizenship for--passport, guns, etc--you are protected and obliged to the law. It's like that pretty much everywhere. For instance, if a cop beats up a tourist, the tourist has the right to sue. Also, in some countries it is customary for a person to get out of the car after getting pulled over. There are laws protecting tourists/foreigners from being placed under arrest or reprimanded for this sort of thing.
