I can see why it's creepy for some, but I'm one of the few people who is perfectly comfortable with the idea of living a virtual life in the future. As for resistance, I'm sure there'll be some, but I'm pretty sure that by the time it comes around, most people will have seen the benefits and enhancements that virtual realities offer to be more accepting of the idea. Of course, if the Internet reaches sentience before that and attacks humanity with thermonuclear missiles, we're not gonna be too fond of the idea.
