JUNE 2--A Texas teenager angling for the lead role in a school play is facing charges that she spiked a competing actress's drink with Clorox. Katherine Smith, 18, was arrested this week and hit with a felony rap for tampering with a consumer product (in this case a bottle of Mountain Dew she gave to a 15-year-old rival). According to a Tarrant County arrest warrant, a copy of which you'll find below, Smith was the understudy of the teen victim in a play called "Ha." By dosing the younger actress's Dew, Smith believed that she would take over the play's lead role. The warrant notes that Smith "had a lot of family coming in from out of town to see the play and watch her perform." Additionally, Smith's mother believed that her daughter was the play's main character, not an understudy for the February performances at L.D. Bell High School in Hurst. Smith, who used an eye dropper to place bleach in the 20-ounce soda bottle, told a school administrator that she wanted to harm the lead actress "so she could not perform in the play." Smith's plot was thwarted when the girl smelled an unusual odor emanating from the Dew. Pictured above in a Tarrant County Sheriff's Office mug shot, Smith faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of the spiking bid. (3 pages)

A teenager accused of spiking a fellow theater student's drink with bleach because she wanted the lead role in a school play surrendered to authorities.

Katherine A. Smith, 18, turned herself in Wednesday, more than a week after a warrant was issued for her arrest. She was charged with tampering with a consumer product, a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison, and was released on $2,500 bail.

A message left Thursday at Smith's home seeking comment was not immediately returned.

Smith is accused of putting bleach in Mountain Dew and then handing the drink to a 15-year-old in February, a day after the opening of L.D. Bell High School's production of "Ha!" — a trio of one-act comedies. Test results confirmed that the drink contained components of bleach, according to police reports.

The 15-year-old noticed the odor and told an assistant principal, who contacted police. Police said Wednesday that the investigation took more than three months because of problems with testing the drink.

Smith was placed in an alternative school after she was questioned in the incident and did not participate in prom or graduation, said Hurst-Euless-Bedford district spokeswoman Judy Ramos.

haha yeah put like half a cup full

youll be on one for days

Nah. You'd be buckwild for about an hour or two and then you'd just pass the fuck out and wake up next to a toilet. I've seen/known people who've taken 50+ hits of the evil in one sitting and they always go unconscious before shit can get too psychotic.

yeah, i grew up around some major fuck-ups. the good news is that most of them joined the military.

In high school this nerdy girl who was an understudy in one of the school plays got really jealous of the main actor. At one point the main actor said to the nerdy girl that she was "just an understudy" this really pissd the nerdy girl off. So what did she do? She hit the main character in the back of the head with a fucking wrench. I got to see the nerdy girl get escorted out of school by the cops and the other get wheeled out to an abulance. It was one of few interesting days in high school
