It was just a slapstick comedy, directed by one of the top slapstick directors (David Zucker). I thought it was WAY funnier than the second one. Scary Movie 2 had precisely one funny moment, which is when James Woods comes into the room and the girl is flipping out and he says "Fuck this!" and leaves.
