Silba
I'm thinking the TV set your Computer for HDMI viewing, and maybe tampered with a setting like resolution or something. Caseks most likely has the answer. In his back pocket.

poes
My friend bought back one of these from work... Someone form his work was gonna throw it out cos it stopped working. It's only a couple of months old but doesn't appear when you connect it to a computer. The little light comes on and it does some whirring sounds when you connect the USB but nothing else happens. Anything I can try to revive it?
T4M*
DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU PLAN TO KEEP IT. IF YOU ARE GOING TO THROW AWAY, MIGHT AS WELL DO IT. Someone gave me their toshiba external hardrive. He said if i can make it to work that i can keep it. If you connect it to the PC, it says it cant find the drivers and such. It comes in a case, so i opened it and it looks like this.... Now, Rubbing alcohol, so stupid, but I used a QTip and alcohol and pretty much clean anything metal I can see on this part.... Surely enough, it works, but i have to "clean" it every time i hook it up to the comp. I need to buy a New External Hardrive and take all the files out of that one, before i completely lose them. Edit* Its not a Universal fix, simply mine happens to work when i clean it. so fucking stupid.
falseface
So I have this Black OS that I want to shoot to my friend touring in Ireland right now. Her laptop went to shit and I think she was running Vista anyway. In any event, I want to email it to her. I tried yousendit but they only let me upload something 100 gigs or less. Any suggestions? I figured it out, so nm. For those that want to ship big stuff, here's an article on lifehacker that might be useful.
Suber Giraffe
Just reformatted my comp...Installed all my drivers using some sweet driver finder program my friend gave me. Have Google Chrome, Kaspersky 2010, utorrent/userenity, itunes, & winrar. Any other useful things i should download?
T4M*
^^^^^^Last page ugh, i hate it when i get a new comp or have to restore a comp and re-download all the things i need. You are pretty much set, you just need to update everything. Run Windows Update. Update Flash. Update Adobe Script. Update Windows Media Player Update Windows Live Things To Download: Anything other than Internet Explorer (Firefox, your Choice) CCleaner Peer Block Thats all I can think of right now. I dont know what you normally run, like Itunes and such. Other than that, your are pretty much set. Some more to add to things you're downloading: VLC player http://www.videolan.org Defraggler http://www.piriform.com/defraggler Comodo Firewall free http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/free-download.html Spybot S&D http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html These are the programs you need - just 1 download and it will install everything for you http://ninite.com/dria/Ninite_Installer.exe?k=ead362317d9f9b7ab4187f66a2b561bd6d534762 .... I opened up the box to discover its my hard drive. I'm going solid state. go baby go I know what ccleaner does but why bother? someone explain it to me? Are loose files in the registry easily exploited? Is this an easy way into a system?

T4M*
Open a new tab/browser and type this in.... 192.168.1.1 if it ask for a password, user name should be admin and pass is either blank or admin. Somewhere it should say security settings. On there you can set up the type of password you want to set up. Also, you can name your network. I cant find you a screen pic to see what to look for. T4M*
For the most part yes. I use Avira. Just make sure you have your firewall on, windows diffender, and download Peer Block.

Seffiks
reset the bios to defaut best way to do this is by using jumpers ( or take the little CMOS battery Silver bout the size of a nickel) take it out and flip it over and just lay the battery on the leads of the connector and power on the computer for 5 seconds and pull the power flip the battery back over like it suppose to be and power up the computer ( this should get you back to normal)
xen
I tried google to no avail. Anyone tell me what a range rip is? I've downloaded a box set and it seems to fall in that category and was just wondering what it means. is it inferior quality (not that it matters to me. just some headphone music)?
