But only when under Hanna-Barbera (1940-1958), Gene Deitch (1961-1962), and Chuck Jones (1963-1967)... after that it gets horrible and all tripped out, especially with the switch back to H-B in '75. I think MGM had outsourced the actual animation to Asia at this point and the cells take on a totally different look that is just too cheaply polished and flat. edit: the still is from 1942's "The Bowling-Alley Cat"... still hand-painted.
