Mammoth
I dropped out of high school, and I am at the age where I still cannot buy smokes but if incarcerated I am legally considered an adult. So basically, I do nothing all day but sit on 12oz and I figured I might as well study to take the G.E.D. so I'm not worthless and can find a job. Has anyone here dropped out of highschool and got their GED diploma? How easy was it for you?

bobthemothafuckinbuilder
Go to your local community college and sign up for GED classes. The enroll and get some credits so you could find a job. I dropped out of HS too... it was too fuckin' boring... plus I went to a school called Steinmnetz which didn't help much. GucciCondom
You shouldn't really need to study for it unless your a retard. I just straight took it and got almost perfect scores. Then again I didn't drop out because I was stupid, I did because I see no need to finish highschool when I could goto a tech school for 2 years then 2 years at a real college to have a BA 2 years before anyone in my graduating class. Quoted post steinmetz is a pretty shitty high school. seeing as your a bit older you probably went there during latter part of the gang era of chitown. dont blame you for dropping out. Mam - get your ged nigga. anyone can get it, and seeing as your not a retard (i know some pretty stupid people who got their ged) go to any of the city community colleges. its not hard at all, they concentrate more on teaching you common sense than hard math and science stuff like in hs. ps my guy seen you on the news the other night. AlwaysBombin
I'm a dropout too, still 17, but I'm workin fulltime...I need to go get my GED nonetheless. How hard is it really? I was always a really smart kid so I'm not worried about too much, just the math and science shit cuz I stopped paying attention to-showing up for class at all once I hit highschool so I'm really far behind in those subjects

dobsilla
not having a diploma or a GED isnt goin to ruin your life. i moved out and dropped out at 17. its 4 years later and ive never had to ask for money to get by. ive also worked for a fortune 50 company. everywhere says you need at least a diploma but i lie and they never seem to background check that. its good to have but life isnt over. ill get a ged once i feel the need to go to college or it makes life harder not having it. RumPuncher
Here's the honest truth: if you want to work in the buisness world, the diploma means a lot. if you want to work in something a little different, it means shit. A diploma just proves you can follow directions and get the work done.
ClueTwo
Seriously.... Go back to a regular high school and complete your standard education. A GED is only a close second for shit like the military or a cheap trade school. I can gaurantee you will be more satisfied int he long run.. But hey, you're a grown up and know it all.. DON'T TAKE ANYTHING AWAY FROM A DIPLOMA, I'M GLAD I HAVE IT AND ALL -- BUT AT THE SAME TIME A DIPLOMA DOESN'T AUTOMATICALLY MEAN SUCCESS AND NOT HAVING ONE DOESN'T AUTOMATICALLY MEAN FAILURE. A DIPLOMA IS NECESSARY FOR WORKING YOUR WAY UP IN THE CORPORATE/MEDICAL/LAW FIELD (AND THE LIKE), BUT FOR PEOPLE THAT THINK "OUTSIDE THE BOX" WITHOUT A DIPLOMA CAN START THEIR OWN BUSINESS, CLOTHING LINE, OR MAY HAVE ARTISTIC SKILLS TO GET IN WITH SOME BIG BUSINESSES THAT REQUIRE GRAPHIC DESIGN/ANIMATION; OR BUYING REAL ESTATE AND SLOWLY BUILDING AN EMPIRE... NONE OF THOSE TYPE OF THINGS REQUIRE A DIPLOMA. BUT PUT IT LIKE THIS A DIPLOMA IS GOOD TO HAVE BECAUSE YOU CAN ACHIEVE EITHER BY "FOLLOW THE RULES/CONFORM TO SOCIETY" OR "THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX." WHEREAS WITHOUT A DIPLOMA YOU CAN ONLY FOLLOW THE LATTER. UNLESS YOU DO FOLLOW THE RULES AND JUST BECOME A JANITOR OR HANDYMAN OR WHATEVER. It's not always the case, with pure genius shit like Bill Gates, but for the average guy, you're doing better getting that diploma. Quoted post [/b] sorry this is far from the truth.... A degree does not guarentee a job and if you dosecure a well paying job if you are finacialy illiterate it doesnt mean shit.lets say you are making 100,000 a year and leasing and renting everything because you dont lke debt you are basically just turning your money into smoke. you have to understand how money works, if you want have money.this is genarally something you will never learn in school. It is not how much you make but where your money is going that matters. my advice to you is this decide what you want to do,if you want to go back to school.get your GED its super easy I only went to study for it once and me and my boy were high as hell.I took it and passed in the top 1 percentile. Then go to college if thats your thing.try to get your money threw grants or scholarships(look online)Fuck Loans!! get your BA at least.this way if you feel like traveling while taking a break after your BA you can teach english in alot of foriegn countrys to make money while you are there. if you are not in to the education thing, do what ever you can to get money(legaly hopefully),get the books "think and grow rich" and "rich dad ,poor dad" and apply them badboys to your life.If you are gonna get yours in the money game DO NOT hang around people who are not sharing your goals as a business man and who have Employee mentalitys. Find things your interested in doing and figure out how to make money with them.Get a credit card buy something like a laptop(something that is asset , not a liabilty)then pay that shit off and get your credit established and stay on top of your credit.get a credit and finacial report at least twice a year.when you buy a car buy a used one that is a recent model(police auctions are the shit), when you decide to buy property rent that shit out do not live in it, make the rent cover your morgage.you can buy 3 houses for like $85,000 if your credit is tight.you put 15 down on each, rent em out then sell em in four years and flip your money, because of the equity.you can even get it set up to where you are paying the interest and not the principal. DO NOT take any woman serious until you are getting close to thirty! you are 17 I know it sounds corny but you got your whole life ahead of you, if you get on your grind now and stay on it till your 27,you will be way ahead of alot of people.so do what you gotta do and get yours.I know a guy who made a million in 5 years just grinding hella hard and now he owns like 4 houses in San Francisco and is worth about 7-8 million net and is like 34 years old and he dropped out and got his GED.but he didnt waste his time he got his grind on. Zack Morris
the GED is a joke. I dropped out and took it. I was hungover, had three hours of sleep, took a nap in the middle of it and was still the first one done and had almost a perfect score. Seriously its so damn easy that its pathetic. Here you can bypass the classes by taking the practice exam and if you do well enough on it you can just go straight to the test. Try that route if you can since it is the easiest. You go one day and spend an hour taking the practice test then that weekend you go and spend 3 hours taking the real thing and BAM your done and got a Good Enough Diploma.
