This is from a friend of mine. Do not eat at Royal Buffet in Enfield CT. If you know anyone else who may please forward this to them. This is the experience my Step-father had with them Saturday afternoon. On Saturday November 4, 2006 I had an unpleasant dining experience at the Royal Buffet - 55 Palomba Dr - Enfield, CT. I was accompanied by my wife and mother-in-law. My wife had brought to my attention ROACHES she noticed running through the glass enclosure which was directly under the station holding items such as raw clams, oysters, desserts etc. They were very noticeable from the booth we sat in. I then made a closer inspection and saw the enclosure was infested with ROACHES. I then discreetly went and got the front cashier and brought him over to see the problem. He just smiled, left and came back five minutes later and said "I'll give you 20% off the bill if you just leave now." I told him this was not acceptable for two reasons - its not about the money and I was insulted that he would offer me 20% off a $27.00 check if I look the other way. He then tried to explain to me that the ROACHES were inside the glass and that was "acceptable" . I couldn't believe my ears. No sooner than he finished giving me the "acceptable" excuse - low and behold - a ROACH crawled up over the counter and into one of the food pans. I immediately pointed it out - he then saw the "acceptable" ROACH in the food, ran over, took the pan to the back and, I don't know if he changed pans or not but, came back with a replacement. He didn't even wipe down the counter where the ROACH had crawled into the food. He then offered me a 50% discount. I th en asked to speak to a manager. The manager became very defensive when I explained the situation to him. He then started telling me again that the ROACHES were "normal" and all restaurants are allowed to have ROACHES. I then questioned his reasoning. He became very rude and dropping "F" bombs on me. He then went as far as accusing me of just trying to get out of paying the bill. Of course by this time things were getting loud and now he was telling other patrons that this was again the "norm" for all restaurants. He also stated the ROACHES were "okay" because he has a "contractor" that takes care of that. I told him "contractor" or not it is not right to have ROACHES crawling on the counters and into the food. He then ordered me to leave his establishment because I was making a disturbance. I asked him to please call the police if complaining about ROACHES IN THE FOOD was wrong. He would not. I did advise him that I was going to inform the Health Depa rtment. I also tried to file a complaint with the Enfield Police as a matter of public safety, but was told this is strictly a Health Department issue. While I'm on the phone with the cops another drunk girl (redhead) is frantically trying to get in my cab, I get her in and run the wrong way down the street to get the blonde who by now has attracted the attention of another scoundrel who was also trying to get her into his car. I pull up and it turns out drunk redhead is also trying to rescue drunk blonde but she was to inebriated to talk .....(now I have two drunk girls nearly comatose) I try to get them home but they are so drunk they can't speak (I'm thinking roofies) and while I'm parked near their home (I managed to coax a street corner out of the blonde) one crawls out the window and meets Mr pavement face first. They both take a ride in the ambulance......the good news is the firemen rescue guys made sure they paid their fare...
