Disney buying Pixar?

Recommended Posts

The latest news in the Disney-Pixar saga is that <span style='color:pink'>Disney may be looking to buy Pixar. Disney CEO Robert Iger has apparently made ensuring a continuing realtionship with Pixar a top priority. However, in the event of a purchase, which would be in the seven to nine billion dollar range, Pixar CEO Steve Jobs would apparently become the largest individual shareholder in Disney, essentially making Jobs the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. So much so, in fact, that, like the servants of the King of Siam in THE KING AND I, everyone would be mandated to kneel in the presence of His Almighty Jobs. On the other hand, according to this "Business Week" article, a purchase is highly unlikely as they argue that Disney would benefit much more from extending the current contract of distributing Pixar's films rather than outright buying the studio. What do you guys think? Good idea? Bad idea? Probably not gonna happen? Strike back your thoughts below.

I know that Jobs never got along with Eisner (long standing beef), and therefor many Disney sites are not supported by Apple computers. It would be an interesting turn of events if this is true.

Real word, from a very highly reliable source that shall remain annoynamous, Disney has been nothing besides distribution and marketing. All the actual work, modelng, animation, rigging, the whole film, has been done by Pixar studio's. About a year or so ago, Pixar wanted to renegotiate the 50/50 cut for total film revenue stating that they did all the work, while all Disney did was lend their corporate mark. Disney laughed in ther faces, so after Cars (the 5th film in their 5 film contract) Pixar is going dolo and producing films on their own.

This all could have changed, but this was the last time I heard of it. For more info go to awn.com.

I think Pixar should terminate ties with Disney and go solo just so they can have freedom to do more PG-13+ stuff and not so "Disney".

Pixar is awesome and always comes with blockbusters based around Disney stories-I'm curious to see what they could potentially do outside of the family shit.
