maybe these guys did their thing in the 'NW' scene back before it was an extreme skater fag trendy thing to do by every yoyo with an internet connection. sure many of those older NW writers may have retired before you started, and dont currently do 1000000000000 pieces in a year, but that dosent negate their contribution.

Woah now MooseKnuckles...........I'm not negating anyone! I didn't start yesterday........and I'm aware of the contributions in the past.........BUT........these guys haven't done shit illegally in years. It's a well known NW fact! In my opinion..........you can't 99% fall off and get that same juice that cats in the now are getting! There's kids in that book across the country from me that I've seen more of than these guys that live 15 minutes from me! Sorry bro.......Not being a dick.........just stating facts. I'm done debating this........I'm not naming names. If you know you know. BTW from the looks of things I got a ton of respect for some of the same folks you seem to mention on here. They deserve it. Harsh and Network etc..........you feel me! ;)

I think you are approaching FTG as if it was a thread in metal heads. A book, or this book in particular, is a historical document. It is the Subway Art of the freights, if you will. The intention is to explore the current, the recent and distant past of this culture. So the writers that are no longer active, very much have a place in it - they are irrefutably entitled to the 'juice'. They are entitled because of the context in which they are portrayed, the context of History. To take the position that “these guys haven't done shit illegally in years. It's a well known NW fact! In my opinion..........you can't 99% fall off and get that same juice that cats in the now are getting” is the equivalent of saying that because Haze AWR, or Porn or SuRoc don't do shit illegally any more, they too cant get the ‘juice’.

Or they shouldn’t get the same juice as a Sigh, or a Regal or a Ges, or a Harsh…... do you feel me?

In Subway art on page 15 there is a piece by King2, a 2nd generation writer who had “fallen off” long before Subway Art was published in 1983. Do you think, in Henry’s attempt to briefly tell the History of New York City Subway graffiti King2 does not deserve the juice? And let me tell you, there were many hundreds of deserving writers that didn’t get any juice in that book.

We will all have an opinion about who should have been in this book – this thread is a testimony to that. But I have never met a book that was, in the true sense of the word, comprehensive, especially a book about graffiti.

I thought the book was well done since it covered so many areas of the freight scene. I think it is a good thing when shit is left out or people aren't featured because then it leaves room for others to step up and share their knowledge, fliks and different views on things. Hopefully this book will push people to get off their asses and make the same sort of thorough effort. This won't be the end all and be all of freight train graffiti books.

i'm with you on this one.

there were some cats that had more than a few quotes in there and i saw it and was just laughing my ass off. yeah, sure they can paint a freight. but i can easily count the number of freights they've done...ever..certainly not enough to warrant endless blabbering about a scene they were barely part of.

i agree, there were definatly not enough canucks in the book. it was a good attempt but not as good as it could have been. but i don't expect much more from roger...
