Artiists that inspire you

Recommended Posts

i notice there's always an appreciation for illustrators or illustrative work on 12 oz...i appreciate it for what it is and dig a few artists that fall into that category but c'mon...there's more to it than that.

process, material, concept, mark making etc...I just see the same image driven/stylized work and artists posted. If that's what inspires people then keep on, not knocking it...i'd just like to think that people look outside of that box...gotta get on the road.

giger, his sketches are a rediculous insight into the fucked up things in that man's mind.

rothko- I love going to his chappel here in houston

as someone mentioned earlier, seurat's drawings

chuck close

magritte's sculpture work

I never thought I'd actually endorse this, but Cy Twombli... some of his massive canvas work is pretty impressive. I can't stand some of the other shit he made though.

as far as using people to get inspired for graffiti you guys are totally forgetting to check up on the classics.

kells.2.jpg

the book of kells

check up on ancient chrsitian texts and ancient islamic calligraphy/ architecture. if you want to get inspired look at the fucking classics. if you cant make a decent figure drawing than dont bother trying to make anything "abstract". people who claim that they are artists andcant master the classics are fucking clowns.

Im not artsy at all. So basically I just write my name on things, and havent taken any art classes at a community college so i dont know the name of all these obscure artists.
