I've got two speakers and my computer, that's it. Now I need an amplifier to get my computer connected to the speakers - correct?

What's the differencet between an amplifier, an analog amplifier, a digital amplifier, a pre-amplifier and an effect-amplifiers?

My goal is in the future when I have more money, to get two 1210's and a mixer. Id' also like to get surround sound hooked up to my TV/DVD. So if I'm investing in an amplifier it should be one that can meet those needs correct?

And following this, which one would you compare to someone who doesn't have a lot of money but would still like decent sound?

Than you.

most computer sound systems are relatively cheap and are powered so you dont need an amp. For less than a hundred bucks you can get a 5.1 speakersurround sound system that sounds pretty decent and has enough power for average household use(tv or computer), plus they come with a small subwoofer. Much less hassle than dealing with speaker wire's and amps and shit.

But if you are talking about Audiophile quality sound....spending money shouldn't be a problem.
