metronome Posted July 15, 2006 Share Posted July 15, 2006 I don't think the replay was shown inside the stadium, from what I understand there was a lot of confusion inside the stadium as to why zidane was being sent off. from what I hear, the 4th official (the one who handles the substitutes and shows the board with the amount of injury time to be played) saw the headbutt on a nearby tele screen that one of the camera's had managed to pick up ... which would make the red card invalid, because FIFA absolutely refuses to use instant replay to make decisions. and I can understand that, but with the modern game 1 ref on the field isn't enough, because the linesmen and 1 ref can't catch everything.
