TOMATO_SAUCE
HOW WAS RUSH HOUR 3. ANYONE? PROS CONS?
serum
i think takashi miike is pretty overrated but if you like him id suggest checking out Ley Lines (Nihon Kuroshakai) The last film in Japanese shock director Takashi Miike's Triad Society Trilogy is a beautifully filmed examination of alienation awash with stylized colors. Miike follows three disaffected Chinese youths living in Japan as they desperately try to better themselves while simultaneously falling into a life of crime. In Japanese with English subtitles. Theo Huxtable.
just finished watching this last night. thought it was good. i had first heard about the zodiac killer first in the late 90's... was kinda intrigued. i learned more about him by watching this movie. review: 8/
mindvapors
Thought this movie was pretty good. It delves into the "the world's a simulation" concept/debate. the concept on its own intrigues me. Anyone know of any others (not the Matrix..)?
shitting
i can't beleive how little known this movie is. true classic
earl broclo ESQ
serum --miike has so many films under his belt, that i would agree he is overrated in a sense. that sense being that there are some really shitty films he put out. i'll have to check out ley iines, i've never heard of that one before. thanks for the heads up. serum
yeah agreed. ive heard him say in interviews that the majority of his films are garbage but that he gets lucky every so often.

serum
did anyone see that documentary about the golden gate bridge vs. suicide jumpers? yeah its pretty intense. the strange thing is that me and my boy were talking about it as we were walking across the golden gate and a bunch of people were gathered looking over the side. a few seconds later police rolled up and the coast guard started fishing out a body of some dude that just jumped. it happens alot. roadpig
i almost rented Bridge last night but i picked up Borat and Cocaine Cowboys instead. i will probably pick up the Bridge next and maaaaaybe Disturbia. i seen these movies there last night and i dont quite think they would be worth the watch... :D
fermentor666
Wow, "Gangs of the Dead" was a bad movie, eh? What a shocker. See this sci-fi classic about a rampant AI overtaking the world's nuclear powers, before Ron Howard makes it into a shitty remake:
earl broclo ESQ
thanks for the heads up on "the bridge" serum. i didn't know it found distribution. actually, i never even looked to see. so thanks for saving me the step.
serum
yeah it was in limbo for quite some time but i think it might have come out in july on dvd
earl broclo ESQ
it was released on dvd june 12th --time to see if i can que it up on netflix. i guess there is a making of in the bonus features. i actually heard about this through dateline, i'm glad it got picked up. without ruining anything, does it going into how the city is handling (or not) the issue? serum
yeah a little bit. he mostly focused on the victims and their families. a big problem was that he got permission under the pretense of filming sf monuments. alot of the parents of victims were quite pissed. it brings up a good point about whether its right to film something and interview people while misleading them about what the documentary is really about. none the less it was pretty moving. mindvapors
God. I just watched this horrible indie film called Puzzlehead. It was horrible. What's with indie films having to be about absolutely nothing, or make something potentially interesting into a long-winded fart?
earl broclo ESQ
the title "independent film" has been blown out completely in the past 10+ years. you always have had to take the good with the bad though.
