Movie Recommendation Thread

Do not waste your time going to see American Hustle.

Christian Bale's character is the only light in the darkness that is this heap of shit.

** Slight spoilers below **

The plot.... tired, confusing, cliche, boring. Its the same story you've seen a hundred times, a guy gets rich off of illegal money practices(he's a jew, go figure) he gets hemmed up and then the feds make him wear a wire and cooperate to catch bigger fish. Sounds cliche but exciting, it isnt. The development of the plot is almost if not worse than the character development.

The other characters? Amy Adams is alright but her fake British accent wears on you as you see her go in and out of it to keep a charade going that im not exactly sure why it is even necessary.

Don't even get me started on Bradley Cooper's awful character...might be the worst role ive ever seen him do. He plays some guido FBI agent who curls his hair, lives with his mom, and flatout has no intution or sense the entire movie and seems as confused as the audience throughout most of the film.

Biggest pile of bullshit of the entire movie goes to.... One scene...one scene ruined the whole movie for me. Around the middle of the fucking thing CB is suppose to introduce a fake Arabian businessman to a mafia don during the sting process....the Don somehow speaks arabic(come the fuck on) and ask him a few questions in arabic to which the fake Arab(who is mexi) does not answer any of them...thus blowing the cover of the whole operation, yet everyone who just saw the virtual facepalm go about the plot like it never happened.

Im just looking out for you guys, don't waste your 3 hours

didnt read past cuz i am gonna see that shit.

saw wolf of wall street the other night, i enjoyed it immensely, even tho american hustles getting

better reviews. wolf of wall street is very similar to both goodfellas and casino (stylized direction/editing,

similar storyline of a man who makes it to great heights with an illegal enterprise and comes crashing

back down, told over the course of a decade) and im sure youve heard it by now, even tho its

3 hours long, it blows by and is entertaining from start to finish.

Wolf of Wall St was good, but I was expecting it to be epic.

Im just over the same tired storylines no matter how well done they are. You know what the fucking end is going to be before the movie even starts.

Decap is from another planet though, dudes acting is too good.

Wolf of Wall St. was like a 3.5/5 and I expected a 5.

Way better than American Hustle though.

Enjoyed this.

^Put this on way too late and stayed up to watch the entire thing. Great movie.

The trailer for this makes it look like it'll be shit but I really like Sharlto Copley (District 9/Elysium)

Could be that south africans have pretty badass accents, even if they try to hide them.

It's kind of a zombie movie/thriller with a fairly foreseeable twist. Either way I enjoyed and have watched it again with different friends.

Last Days On Mars

another terrible trailer to give you a bad notion towards the movie.

I was told this was zombies on mars so went in with very low expectations which were blown away. really awesome movie in my opinion, but again, it's kind of about zombies which I'll always give a more lenient rating on. I've watched this with my wife then friends and with my family again.

A man befriends a fellow criminal as the two of them begin serving their sentence on a dreadful prison island, which inspires the man to plot his escape. Papillon is a 1973 prison film directed by Franklin J. Schaffner, based on the best-selling autobiography by the French convict Henri Charrière.

i enjoyed this immensely.

critics are comparing the fighting scenes in this to be as intense and gruesome

as the opening battle scene of saving private ryan, which left me rocked. they

are not far off. the tension is built so well that by the time they were ready pop

the first shot, i was literally gripping the edge of my seat and when the shit did

pop off, it didnt let off for like a half hour straight. im talking 30 solid minutes

of these guys fighting for their lives against impossible odds. where it differs from

saving private ryan though is that i almost had to turn that shit off when i first

saw it, whereas here i couldnt look away. its got its aspects that are hollywood

standard, which should be expected from a mark wahlberg movie, but if you can

forego that, this is well worth the money to see it in the theatre.

^ and a soundtrack by Explosions In The Sky. I fucking love movies where one band does all or the majority of a soundtrack. this and friday night lights were put way up on my list because of that. or chemical brothers doing hanna, and tron done by daft punk. Movies which I would probably not enjoy without the steady soundtrack
