Seen it yet? Most reviews seem to say its a great effort for a new director but falls short of being a future classic. I think the hype is gonna end up hurting this movie. People seem to be expecting alot.

i saw it...it felt underdeveloped...it tries to feel like good will hunting kind of

i think jonah hill tries to direct like gus van sant.....this might sound weird but the movie wasnt "full"

That sounds really similar to what the critics are saying. Still, for his first movie right out of the gate the fact that it doesn't outright suck is an achievement. I still really want to see it.

Its just so odd that in 2018 we have Jonah Hill and Danny McBride writing screenplays for serious movies that don't suck.. what is happening lol

I'm not complaining, bro...the last year i saw so many hit movies in one award season year was 1998

that was a good year for serious movies...and the fact that comedians are writing it, even better

Really was. We were due though, there were a couple lean years there, seemed everything was getting corny, even the indies. Its nice that in general I get the feeling a lot more studios are going back to the bronze era way of making movies. Less special effects and gimmicks with more emphasis on character development and good story arcs.

companies like A24 and AnnaPurna are picking up where Miramax fell off

and i feel you, bro....i was dying for movies that werent action driven or comic book based

and clint eastwood came out of retirement!
