haunts
01/18/2005 Senator Boxer Shows Conde Rice To Be A Liar Sam Hamod Jan. 18, 2005 This morning, at 9.40 a.m., Senator Barbara Boxer listed fact after fact, in statements by Conde Rice, that showed she contradicted herself time and again about Al Qaeda, about Saddam and his alleged WMD’s, and his intentions--all of which led us to war against Iraq. Boxer went on to show that Conde Rice, even more recently, was caught lying the more by contradicting statements by the CIA’s intelligence reports and contradicting statements by President Bush. In all instances, Boxer showed quotes from Rice to make her points. In her response to Boxer, Rice sputtered and lied even more. She refused to respond to the facts that Boxer pointed out, instead she kept saying that her integrity and credibility were under question and that she resented this; this was clearly folly and a liar's farce. Clearly, Ms. Rice was shown to be a liar and an immoral person—not caring about those who have been killed in this Iraq war, this war that was clearly built on lies. The more she talked about her reputation for honesty in the face of her lies, the stranger she sounded--as if she, like Bush, was out of touch with reality. Among the contradictions that Senator Boxer pointed out were: 1. Rice said that Al Qaeda areas had shrunk; Boxer pointed out that Al Qaeda now had more lands in which it was operating than before the war on Iraq; 2. Rice said that the war was not about WMD’s or atomic weapons; Boxer pointed out that the congress supported the war on Iraq based on fear of WMD’s and atomic weapons that the administration claimed existed; 3. Rice said that Saddam had worked with Al Qaeda; Boxer pointed out that Saddam and Bin Laden were enemies and did not cooperate; 4. Rice said we’d made progress in the Arab and Muslims worlds; Boxer pointed out that there was more anger against America in Muslim and Arab lands since the invasion of Iraq, not less—this according to the CIA’s own intelligence bureau and the president’s own committee on combating terrorism; 5. Rice said that Al Qaeda was now more under control; Boxer pointed out that every governmental agency that has looked at the situation has made clear that Al Qaeda has appealed to more jihadist Muslims than anyone had ever imagined. Thus, Bin Laden’s hope had come true, America's attack on Iraq proved to most Arabs and Muslimst that America was attacking and desiring to take-over Arab and Muslim lands. Boxer made other points, but these are among the most important that showed Rice to either be a liar or an incompetent. During this time, Rice would quote Bush when she felt it was helpful, but even then Boxer pointed out when she contradicted the president when it suited her self-defense (especially with reference to Saddam and his alleged “nuclear weapons”, his infamous aluminum tubes and his “nuclear facilities.”) Rice kept saying that she did not want her credibility impugned—Senator Boxer then stated, “I am but quoting your own contradictions.” For any sane person listening to the comments, it was clear that Conde Rice has no credibility, no integrity and is not fit to hold an office as important as Secretary of State. We applaud Senator Boxer for her courage, her honesty and her care for the safety of the American people. We also applaud her for trying to restore some integrity to our Congress and to our senate. Those who simply caressed Rice this morning, were doing a disservice to our country. Clearly, Rice cannot stay with the truth. She is a person who is more loyal to GW Bush rather than to our safety. She is clearly not fit to hold this very important office. If she is put into this office, with her out of sync cold-war mentality, his misunderstanding of the Arab and Muslim worlds, her inability to understand Putin of Russia or why many European, Asian, African and Latin American countries distrust and fear us—America will be more danger than anyone can possibly imagine. I say this because she will exacerbate matters between America and the rest of the world, not help. Our isolation internationally is becoming worse everyday. To put in one of the architects of this isolation and loss of respect for America into a major office at this point would lead to more disasters down the road. I know that the Republicans probably have enough votes to put Rice into the position of Secretary of State. But it is my hope that some of them will have enough sense to stand against her, with some of the Democrats who may have the courage to finally stand up with Senator Boxer. Senator Boxer would make a much better Secretary of State than Conde Rice—the shame in America is that political cronies and political bedfellows like Rice get these important jobs, rather than people who are truly qualified to lead our nation. We say, bravo and thank you to Senator Boxer. To Conde Rice, we say, for shame.

ERIZENO
Boxer is pulling all the stops and going full force. i like having her representing me. My gril had written to her on an issue, i forget off the top of the head what issue, she got a blanket response from boxer that was so cool. Its a start in the right direction .. i hope the rest of the party starts to emulate this kind of approach !!!

Guest BROWNer
"for christ sake, EVERYONE was decieved about iraq, every lied, and everyone changed position!" okay dude, this is starting to sound like some pretty bad logic. in essence your arguments lately have been, everyone was hoodwinked, therefore all this 'liberal' whining about accountability after the fact is pointless, and in fact highlights what's so shitty about a liberal. ? !@#$%
uh, the United Nations (David Kay, anyone?) was telling people Saddam had no WMDs a while ago. Bushdidn't want to listen. (just as after 9.11, he insisted on finding an Iraq link, even when there was none to find) people in the u.s. government were hoodwinked: tricked into authorizing war because they had been told it would be a "last resort" hahaha. the dems have no chance for 2008. how do you figure, when there are 4 long years in between then and now and Bush only pulled 51% of the vote? not like he won in a landslide or something. ledzep
^not to mention it was Kerry who ran against Bush, FUCKING KERRY! hobo knife
I'm really glad theres at least one conservative republican on here willing to argue... But seriously, let's face my facts: 1. 911 was planned during the 90's 2. Afghanistan & Iraq were also planned in the 90's 3. The 2000 election was rigged from the start 4. The 2004 election was rigged from the start 5. We are now in phase two of the master plan 6. Phase two involves Iran and a military draft 7. Bush is a Nazi 8. Karl Rove is gay 9. And the fact that we have 2 guys named Bush and Dick running the country was planned

Quoted post In no way do I support the Bush Administration, but how can she call Rice a flat-out "liar"? Much of what's listed there as being said by Rice is merely subjective. Nothing but opinions and matters of perception. So how could Boxer concretely identify her statements as lying. Rice says that we made progress in the Arab world. That's not a lie. It's true to in certain respects, and it's also true of what Boxer said about making the Arab world angrier. Rice says that Al Qaeda lands have shrunk. Boxer says they've grown. Bother a true because while Al Qaeda has now become more of an Islamic "movement" now than an organization, thus making them more widespread and harder to track down; at the same time they've become de-centralized, assets have been frozen, terror cells have been liquified, terror plans have been thwarted, their once-elaborate headquarters in Afghanistan has been eliminated, and many of their leaders have been captured, killed, or are on-the-run.
