Guest Sparoism
DSL would work, but even that would be kind of slow. He should use DeLi, it might make a big difference. I'm thinking about putting Cygwin on my XP box...I just found out about it today. Interesting.

lord_casek
i've said it over and over and over again in this thread download and use tor if you are concerned in the least about security. http://tor.eff.org/download.html.en mainter and i should probably team up on a couple of pages worth of security related stuff pretty soon so we can refer people back to it when asked. shit is getting so hectic with govt spying on peoples searches, emails, etc... might as well keep yourself safe in case 12oz's records are ever subpoenaed

Here's what I have... let me know if you think I would still need that anonymizer. Windows XP firewall (yeah, I know, but it's still something) ZoneAlarm firewall (with virus and spyware protection) Peerguardian 2 (always running) ...and I'm behind a router (which provides some sort of protection, right?) then I have several anti-spyware programs... SpywareBlaster, Microsoft Anti-Spyware, Spybot... I mean, I play things safe with my Internet activity anyway, so I doubt there's anything incriminating out there from me, but I like the idea of being fully protected just in case. lord_casek
get rid of zonealarm or use this http://theinquirer.net/?article=29616 to fix it..... also...tor is a great way to stay anonymous. slows interweb browsing down a bit...but still. privoxy is also a good solution. stay anonymous. Guest Sparoism
Entropy seems like a great idea for secure browsing, but I'm having a hell of a time getting it to work. Along with Cygwin. It seems straightforward at first since it uses UNIX calls, but I can't seem to compile anything. I'm trying to fing a user's group, but I'm starting to think this may be a little too esoteric for my taste...also, once I get the Linux box online I can just get the Entropy tarball and compile it on there. Ah, the wonderful world of computing-never a dull moment. All I'm using for anonymity is a proxy right now, but I am looking towards the future, as always. Guest Sparoism
That's a funny photo...he looks like my old roommate. He IS the man...plus, he looks a lot healthier than old Mr. Bill Gates. I think he probably sleeps a lot more soundly at night since he doesn't have an army of antitrust lawyers chasing him around. Fuse, have you read the book he wrote about how he develpoed Linux? It's pretty interesting, and not a bad read. He has a good sense of humor, it seems.
