count chocula
i didnt read this whole ish...but... ...krs is full of shit. he fronts like he's a concious individual who means good when, in reality, he's quite the opposite. he came around my way recentley and did a few shows with a couple of cats i know. long story short: he bounced with the skrills - a lot of skrills. dudes a straight arrogant asshole who's riding this concious hip-hop "wave" to cash in. not to mention all this shit... http://www.eastbayexpress.com/Issues/2006-03-22/music/music3.html do yourself a favor read it. 26SidedCube
We're talking about KRS one. Not BDP. BDP could've survived on mars back in the day. And Kool Keith is openly schizophrenic. He has an excuse.

Removed
KRS-One: When I asked him, “Nas I want you to speak at NASA,” he hung up the phone on me. He couldn’t take it. He called me back an hour later saying, “Yo, man. I’m sorry man. Yo, man. Yo, you just too much man. I had to take a breather.” This is probly what I would say if someone I looked upto turned schizophrenic. hhahaha Some of KRS 1's tracks are dope, an I'm not even that into hip hop. 'Mc's act like they dont know' is a killer song and the track he did with Goldie ripped it. On a side note, Ramalzee is on a similar trip yeah? Why hate when its much more fun to listen and laugh. Obvious
is he dead serious about Nas speaking with NASA and taking hiphop to Mars? or was he just joking? that man krs one's ego is so huge it's immeasurable.

CACashRefund
As Dave Chappelle might say, KRS' outburst was a classic case of When Keeping It Real Goes Wrong. Not only did he claim Banjoko was an "enemy of the culture" and an "FBI agent," but even more egregiously, he dissed Too $hort, perhaps forgetting he was in the Bay Area at the time. He also insisted that "You can't go to college and say you're hip-hop," perhaps forgetting how much money he's made on the college lecture tour circuit, or his 1989 song "You Must Learn." He claimed he represented the epitome of hip-hop because he was from the South Bronx, before being informed that several panelists, including Davey D, Joan Morgan, and Mark Anthony Neal, also hailed from the Boogie-Down. Astonishingly, KRS threatened to jump over the table and beat Banjoko's ass, which seemed at odds with his role as founder of the Stop the Violence Movement. The only thing missing, it seemed, was for KRS to put his foot on the table and say, "I am hip-hop, beeyatch!"

YourSistersAssCookie
KRS is one of the Pillars of hip hop and I can respect that. Alot of his music is nice. the few albums where he preaches instead of flowing sucked but thats just my opinion. I will say one thing when I was younger and met KRS he had to be one the the biggest assholes Ive ever met.
The Man with the Answers
KRS-1 sucks. he always did, IMO. Criminal Minded was decent, but had alot of shitty songs. By All Means Neccesarry...I bought that shit the day it came out...its a classic in rap, but like all rap albums back then (and now too I've heard), there was also alot of sucky songs... but I guess those first 2 had scott la rock on them, cuz KRS's next album sucked wicked bad and EVERYTHING subsequently was even worse. His voice is terrible, lyrics suck and he's full of himself. Nothing worse than talentless fucks with big heads. With a good producer, anybody can make a good song...dudes just living off something he did 20 years ago now... and as I pointed out Iwas around back in those days, so I hope my opinion counts for something and I don't get acussed of not understanding, cuz I do understand...all too well, lol
Smart
i really don't get it... i cannot comprehend for the life of me how this guy is even remotely considered a "dope mc"...FUCK HIP-HOP let's cut it down to what you are really trying to say to start with. next, the reason you can't comprehend is because you weren't even remotely near the spot when shit hit so you don't know. It's ok to be ignorant but to base your hate on ignorance is truly misguided. Suck a potato you mormon bitch.

I will give you the chance to redeem yourself... quit that lol shit and riddle me this... what was the MOVE back then? What did you buy the first day and shit your pants, skipped school to get high and listen to, walked around in the 'common' blasting for the public? Who WAS the shit? (and fuck that 'hindsight' shit... there's songs I don't listen to on Jane's Addiction Nothing Shocking and that album kicks ass front to back NO DOUBT so... I will also say that most hip hop back then offered some serious hit or miss shit... I mean, those that were there when it dropped probably also remember the NWA-Arabian Prince team up "LA is the place" and NOW Y'ALL WANT TO FRONT ON EASY?!) JUstJ
Just stumbled across this topic on google and signed up just to post in it, ya'll cats is mad disrespectful. You know what, maybe he is a schizo, why does that matter? So he was born with a defect in his brain and that means we are gonna look down on dude? The fact he's held himself so well and done so much, while(Possibly) having schizophrenia in itself is respect worthy. Has he fallen off musically? Thats subjective, if you don't like his new CDs whatever. You know how many cats aren't even making music? People still want to hear KRS, so he keeps making music. Meanwhile there is a laundry list of cats we would love more music from, and they don't do it. Again, in itself deserves some respect for that. He still puts on dope shows, if you don't agree with this you're either ignorant of what a good Hip-Hop show is, or you aint never been. Ya cats that grew up back then will tell you he was better back then. You know what else they say was better back then? Hip-Hop as a whole. Just like cats from the 90s will say about 2000s Hip-Hop, and the 2000 heads will say to the 2020 heads, just like the metal heads and the jazz fans and everyone else does. This Hip-Hop and Mars shit, pretty dumb, can't front on that. I don't know if he's speaking metaphorically(HE is known for that) he's always talking about expanding, building the Hip-Hop nation. It could easily be a metaphor for expanding. Is it a reasonable idea? Debatable, though all signs point to it could happen but it wouldn't last. Look at all the money Hip-Hop has made, had that money actually gone into the right hands a nation could easily be supported. THough this isn't exclusive to Hip-Hop, or even music. Disney World is the basic equivalent. Regardless of what you think of dude to say fuck him is just retarded. I don't care if he's done some stupid things, like the Banjoko situation. Big fucking deal. People aren't perfect, and KRS has always made it pretty clear that he's not against punching a dude in the face. But listen up, when I was growing up and hip-hopin', We had a lil' thing called jailhouse boxing/ That's why I'm still here rocking, Because my competition never pulled a Glock in" - KRS-One Stop the Violence is mostly focused around not killing eachother. Did this dispute need a fight? No, not at all but despite what he may think of himself, he's still only human and as humans we get pissed off about shit all the fucking time.
