A couple of years ago some people went to nike and laid a proposal to the suits for a new sb program. they pretty much got them to hand over millions of dollars wich is being put back into shops. you won't find 99% of the sb line in anything other than PRIVATELY owned stores or online. I buy mine exclusivly at my boy's shop in ct not the mall. So essentialy they're useing the huge company to keep a lot of small buissnes's afloat. You find me a skate shoe company that won't buckle and flood the malls i'll rep it, till then give me the skate shop specific swoosh.....besides those tiny little hands stitch such masterful work Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

ERIZENO Posted September 5, 2006 Share Posted September 5, 2006 i'm sure if i didn't skate i would feel fine rocking vans, but the fact of the matter is that nike believe it or not is the only shoe program truly supporting skate shops. i can't get behind a company that will whore itself to anyone with a check book. ps, fuck pharrell and his ice creams! and as far as variety, i got it....from dunks to p- rods to blazers to fc's ect ect... i can't help it if i love the swoosh...lakai is tight to Ok ... so you skate and diss on vans but proudly rock the swoosh .... OK .... Give me a break ... I rock all brands when they put out a dope shoe. I dig styles not just names. I work for a skate shoe company ... And the company I work for isn't whoring out ...We deny some core skate shops if they don't fit with the program ... If we were just looking for a pay off then we sure as hell would be in all the stores calling wanting shit but it aint happening. You my friend are looking like a whore IMHO. I will give you the fact that if Nike SB opens an account it will help make that account legit, but that dosent equate to supporting the skate scene. I will also give the 3 or 4 guys that run SB credit where its due... But you seem to be a big help in paying their bills. Keep it up homie. Abracadabra Posted September 6, 2006 Share Posted September 6, 2006 nike's been allowed in skateboarding (that's right, don't you remember the first time they tried buying their way in? complete failure) for a couple years now, where as vans have been making shoes for, and supporting, skateboarding for almost as long has skateboarding has existed. nike's still got a looooooooooooooooooooooooooong way to go before they contribute even a fraction of what vans has. ANd as far as styles versus brands i feel you. i can admit sometimes i get narrow minded when it comes to nike because of how directly it effects my boys shop....those shoes are paying his bills and keeping a scene alive out here. i should remember that its probably an isolated incident and i'm blessed by certain circumstances.
