I think in a solid black colorway they can be worn as dress shoes. The original Jordan 2s were made in Italy with Italian leather. I'm guessing the new retros aren't. I'm 50/50 on getting those 2s. Might want to order half a size up because they're hard as hell to get your foot through the collar... I don't know if all hightop AF1s are snug like that or if these gum editions are tighter.
