hella- actually originated in the Bay Area but it spread fast throughout Cali. Just means "a lot". ie "There's hella people in this club"

it doesnt just mean that though, its just a magnifying word like "really"... kind of... for example, he got beat hella bad, im hella broke, etc.

cuz - This may have came from the South, but Crips in L.A. refer to each other as this.

i allways thought it was a thing you called people you wouldnt call homies or fam or brother or anything.. but that you're still cool with. like friends but not homies. or someone you just met but are cool with.

I use that word a suprising amount.

I'm currently trying to introduce the word "praf" into mainstream society. It was orginally an acronym for "punk rock as fuck". But I want it to develop into its own thing. It should be used as a positive term like "that girl is praf" or "last night micheal bought some really tight underpants, put them on, got drunk, then filled them up with snow to the point that they had to be held up with suspenders... is that praf or what?"

Please do what you can...

Yeah that too.

All I know is that it's short for cousin and that Crips call each other that. But others do to, especially in Texas.

The wonderful world of lexicology... it's a linguist's wet dream.

Brits seem to have the most inventive for some reason... I suppose it is their language to wreck however they want. That Cockney rhyming shit is a little heavy... geek out.

The best US stuff I've heard is "grippers," referring both to the tight ass pants that are indicative of a more 'punk' style in skateboarding (i.e. "Look at those grippers he has on! he must have stolen them from Jim Greco!") as well as the person wearing them ("Great, here come some grippers...")

Anyone read Jaques Derrida's On Grammatology? You should.

'push' instead of drive

'push to work, to school, down the skreet'

'sticky' or 'funny' instead of weird

if he's gay, or strange, he as funny or sticky ass nigga

Then there's 'shinooch'

I aint even going to break that down

Yall aint ready for that yet.....

People in Az, basically just hijack words from other areas...i think.

smoke - when you hot with someone, you got smoke with them

fish-grease hot - when you super hot with someone

jitt - young ass niggas

duck - call a nigga a duck if he don't know shit but think he do

whoadie - errrrybody heard this shit by now, can mean homeboy type nigga or anybody really

thick - a hoe thats not fat but not all bones. thick.mmm.like steak.

raw - many things. shoes can be raw, coke is raw, or a nigga can be raw, for example.

dunk - old car (60s impalas, pre 85 lacs, etc)

float - drivin fast

woo - a dirty blunt

tahn - a blunt. i dont know how to spell that really, thats how you say it though

circle/cookie/2,4,6,8 - crack cooked for you in the form of a circle. 2,4,6,8 means the size of the jar cooked in. so you would say 'lemme get a circle in a 6'.

drop - "pure" crack. usually pretty thin, but quality is better than whip.

whipped - water filled crack. makes it bigger, but quality is lower than drop.

too many to list. alot of these are prolly used all over. i was thinking though. Do other states have the same card games, dice games, or whatever too? some we play are called tonk, casino, and skin.
